First there was a bus, and then a boat—but will we end up getting another action-packed mode of transportation in a third Speed film? That's what was on interviewer Scott Evans's mind as he chatted with Keanu Reeves at the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4. In response to the Access Hollywood reporter's question, Reeves said that there is one thing that would bring him back to the Speed franchise: a great script.

Next year, the first Speed film will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The Jan de Bont-directed film hit theaters in July 1994 and ended up grossing over $350 million at the box office, also winning two Academy Awards for Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Sound. When Evans pulled out a picture of Reeves and his co-star, Sandra Bullock, on the set of Speed, the Matrix actor held up the pic and said: “Hi Sandy! Hi.”

When Evans asked Reeves what it would take to get him and Bullock back together for Speed 3, Reeves responded: “A great story, a great script.” And when asked if he was sure about that answer, Reeves affirmatively said, “Of course!”

Following the success of Speed, a sequel, titled Speed 2: Cruise Control, was released in 1997. Reeves did not return for this film. Bullock, however, did reprise her role, and she was joined by newcomers Jason Patric and Willem Dafoe.

After Speed, Bullock and Reeves did reunite on screen over a decade later, for the fantasy romance film The Lake House (2006).

In 2022, while promoting her film The Lost City with co-star Daniel Radcliffe, Bullock told FOX 5 New York's Rosanna Scotto that she would be down to do a Speed 3 if the Harry Potter star directed it. “Speed 3: Horsepower, [Sandra] on a horse—My friends have been pitching it to me,” Radcliffe joked. To which Bullock responded, “If Daniel would direct Speed 3: Horsepower…that's what'll get me out of the house.” And Radcliffe added, “Don't threaten me with a good time.”

Keanu and Sandra back together and Daniel Radcliffe directing? We would love to see this.
