Kevin Costner Reacts to News About Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Sam Elliott Joining the '1883' Cast

Yellowstone fans, who have been eagerly awaiting news about the future of the Dutton family drama, have something to be excited about! Paramount Network promises that season 4 will air this fall, but the network also dropped some major casting news about one of the spinoffs, 1883. Not much was known about the new show, which was teased back in February in a Super Bowl commercial ... until now.

We just got word that the the prequel, which will follow the Dutton family's origins, will have a blockbuster cast, including country music power couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and Hollywood icon Sam Elliott. Faith and Tim will portray the Dutton family matriarch and patriarch, Margaret and James Dutton. Sam will take on the role of cowboy Shea Brennan.

According to Deadline, Sam said, "It all starts with the writing, and Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer. I think the western genre speaks clearly to both of us. The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature and man against himself. It’s all there, in 1883, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Faith and Hill took to Instagram to share the news with their fans.

Faith posted a boomerang of herself peeking out from behind the 1883 script with the caption, "Finally the day has come when I get to share some exciting news with you! I will be playing Margaret Dutton, the original matriarch of the Dutton family in the Yellowstone prequel 1883. Just wait, you have never seen anything like this!" Fans and fellow celebrities are so excited by the news.

Martina McBride wrote, "Yesssssss!!!!’ 🙌🔥👏❤️" Singer-songwriter Morgane Stapelton said, "THIS IS THE BEST NEWS!!!! I am so excited!!! 🤩♥️," and actress Rita Wilson wrote, "You know I cannot wait for this!"

Even Yellowstone star Kevin Costner chimed in. "Welcome to the ranch," he wrote.

Tim (who grew a beard for the role!) shared a video with his fans with the caption, "So excited I can finally share this….I'm joining the Dutton family in the @Yellowstone prequel, 1883, coming to @paramountplus! And my incredible wife @faithhill will be playing Margaret Dutton!!" His post got thousands of enthusiastic comments.

Jefferson White, who plays Yellowstone ranch hand Jimmy Hurdstrom, said, "The legend!! Can’t wait!!" Lady A singer Charles Kelley wrote, "Well that’s freaking cool. I’m just now getting into that show. Can I co star on something? 🙏" Country star Chris Lane added, "This is dope! 🤘🏼"

And Kevin added to that post, "Dutton looks good on you."
