21 Savage’s latest album hit the nail on the head with its title. American Dream charted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and recorded his biggest first-week sales as a solo artist.

The album, which was released on Jan. 12, sold 133,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It edged out his 2018 LP I Am > I Was, which was Grammy-nominated, by 2000 album-equivalent units and became his fourth No. 1 album overall.

American Dream’s first-week sales numbers still trail his collaborative efforts, 2022’s Her Loss with Drake and 2020’s Savage Mode 2 with Metro Boomin, which sold 404,000 and 171,000 album-equivalent units respectively. Listen to American Dream below.

21 Savage’s latest album was a 15-track effort with features from Travis Scott, Doja Cat, Metro Boomin, Young Thug, Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz, Mariah The Scientist, Mikky Ekko, and Tommy Newport. He coupled the album rollout with baby photos of each featured artist and promotion for his upcoming film American Dream: The 21 Savage Story.

The film’s promotional trailer revealed that Donald Glover, Caleb McLaughlin, and Druski are part of the cast. The Atlanta rapper performed his record “All Of Me” from American Dream during a large portion of the trailer. One scene shows Jabari Banks, who plays Will in Bel-Air, taking on the role of Metro Boomin and reenacting how they created the name “21 Savage.”

The Grammy nominee had a big 2023, as he joined Drake on the It’s All A Blur tour. In a tender moment on the final stop of the tour’s first leg, he was granted entry in Toronto and performed at Scotiabank Arena on Oct. 7. Watch below.
