‘America’s Got Talent’ season 19 recap: Did any acts receive the ‘AGT’ Golden Buzzer in ‘Auditions 3’? [LIVE BLOG]

“America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued Tuesday, June 11 with another two-hour episode of first-round auditions. Once again, this season’s hopefuls are judged by executive producer Simon Cowell on one end of the dais and Howie Mandel on the other. Seated in the middle are Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, with Terry Crews on stage as the lively host.

In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. For the first time ever, each judge has not one, but two chances to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances. Terry had one chance of his own, totaling nine acts overall that will earn the special path to the final phase of the competition.

In “Auditions 1” on May 28, Terry used his golden buzzer on comedian Learnmore Jonasi from Zimbabwe and Heidi used her first of two on 55 year old singer Richard Goodall.

In “Auditions 2” on June 4, we got a glimpse into the decision for each judge to get two Golden Buzzer uses when he first sent singer Liv Warfield through and then later couldn’t help but decide to send drone artists Sky Elements through as well.

8:03 p.m. – Performing first for the judges tonight was trick cyclist Andrei Burton from the UK, hoping to bring his sport to the States since it is already more popular overseas. His audition began outside where he jumped from obstacle to obstacle and then made his way into the theater to close out on stage in front of the live audience. Heidi called it “exciting” and Sofia suggested there isn’t anything he could do to be better. Simon thought that his use of outdoor and indoor was “really inventive.” Howie said voting for him will be “easy” and all the judges joined him in “yes” votes.

8:12 p.m. – Coming from Brasil, dancer and single-leg amputee Bboy Samuka dreams to support his mom and people with cancer if he wins the show. Following his routine where he eventually kicked his brace to the side to dance and flip with his one leg, the judges gave Bboy a standing ovation. Heidi said “it just kept getting better and wilder,” Simon called his audition “a 12” on the scale, and Sofia said she wasn’t disappointed because he’s “one of the best acts” she’s seen. Howie closed with calling his style contemporary and his song choice was mesmerizing. Clearly all the judges were happy to say “yes” for Bboy to perform again for the show.

8:21 p.m. – Siblings known as The Reklaws started their band by performing on their family farm in Canada. Tonight they performed the song “People Don’t Talk About” in honor of their mom who lost her life to mental health issues in 2022. Howie called their singing and writing “impeccable,” adding that he was drawn in to the subject of their song calling it “important” and predicting they’ll go far. Heidi could “feel that [they] really want it” and Sofia called their song “a big treat for all of us.” Simon said it was an “unbelievably powerful” and “stunning” song. Going down the line, all the judges agreed that they should perform again with a full set of “yes” votes.

8:33 p.m. – Next up was Studmuffin Supreme who was supported by a loud and boisterous group of family in the audience and a history of viral likes on TikTok. While Heidi and Sofia were cheering on the performance, Howie and Simon remained unimpressed and hit their red X buzzers. When Sofia’s was pressed as well, the audition came to a halt despite loud cheers from the audience. Heidi stayed firm that she “loved it” and Sofia admitted that the problem was he needed more moves because of the repetition.

8:43 p.m.Roni Sagi & Rhythm were the next dog act to hit the “AGT” stage in the hopes of following in the footsteps of Adrian Stoica & Hurricane, though promising to do something different. Roni and Rhythm moved fluidly together on stage as a dancing duo. Sofia said “the whole thing was like magic” and Simon said that they were a “level up” from what Adrian and Hurricane did. Heidi called it “incredible” because of the anticipation and Howie said it was “energetic and like ballet.” Each of the judges gave them an enthusiastic “yes” to move on to the next round.

8:53 p.m. – With dreams of making the Vegas stage as a champion, magic and quick-change illusionist Solange Kardinaly came to the show with an act that she says has taken three years to perfect. Heidi said that she’s “very, very good” and Howie thought she performed “very uniquely” because she showed both magic and quick-change transitions. Sofia added that it was “professional and entertaining,” with Simon adding that it’s “so much better” and “so slick” because she did it all on her own and held the stage for two whole minutes. It was an “obvious yes” for all four judges who agreed that she is the best quick-change artist they’ve ever had.

9:03 p.m. – The South African kids of Biko’s Manna were next up with their sibling band performance of the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” Heidi told them it was “worth the trip” for them to come to America and appreciated that they performed reggae. Howie called them “young and talented” enough to be named the winning act. Sofia said that they’re “amazing and happy” and Simon added that the vocal was “spot on” with “natural chemistry” among them all as a family. As one audience member predicted, every judge voted “yes” for the group to go on.

9:11 p.m. – The next group was the Argentine dance group Legion with the hopes of opening their own studio instead of practicing in backyards. It was a shocker to the judges’ dais when at the start of their performance, crew hands came out to light each of the dancer’s boots on fire. Right away Simon called it “epic,” Howie referred to it as “unexpected and surprising,” and Heidi said she was “feeling every bit of it.” Simon added that he can “genuinely see this in Vegas” and appreciates the “amount of preparation.” Last to speak, Sofia acknowledged that the other judges are “fascinated,” but being from South America she’s “seen this dance many times” and still this was “spectacular.”

9:28 p.m. – The judges were greeted next by comedic entertainer BORAH the Witch who boiled a potion on stage, but failed to impress any of the judges or the audience. They were buzzed and booed off the stage despite attempting to put a hex on everyone in the room. BORAH was followed by another costumed performer, Scufflemoss Treemen, who fared no better. Even less to their liking was Olive, the invisible illusionist. Sofia went on stage as an assistant to the voice of Olive, but without a performer to engage with the judges just couldn’t take the creepiness and hit their red X buzzers.

9:39 p.m. – When Jelly Boy the Clown came to the stage, Simon’s scare continued because he doesn’t like clowns. Sofia did her best to encourage Jelly Boy to perform in a way that could prove Simon wrong about clowns, but his comedic antics with a watermelon and saw, sword swallowing and fire, and electronic batons did more than that — all of the judges were impressed. Sofia and Simon acknowledged that he’s “not a clown” and was “surprisingly good.” Heidi also “strangely liked it” and Howie appreciated that he brought a multitude of tricks to the stage in his act. All of the judges said “yes” to the non-clowning clown.

9:50 p.m. – Nunchuck specialist and 63-year old Randy Beams got four red X buzzes from the judges because it wasn’t an act cut out for the show. Comedy performer Jacob Hoffman brought his own character to the stage, but none of his jokes or puns aimed at the judges impressed.

9:52 p.m. – The night turned around when registered prison nurse and singer Dee Dee Simon from Oakland came to the stage for her rendition of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” From the side, Terry was impressed she “sang out of her shoes,” Sofia called it “a beautiful treat” to hear her, and Heidi called her “one of the best singers we’ve had this season.” Howie told her she’s “out” and “free” in the “world you deserve to be in.” Simon said that she has talent that the world will hear now and “the world will be better” for her. He said that she “picked one of the hardest songs in the world” and nailed it. Though Dee Dee knew “one yes can change your life,” the judges gave her four.
