Angelina Jolie on going 'full crazy' in 'Maleficent 2' and why she entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Angelina Jolie is finding a new home at the Mouse House.

The A-list actress and mother of six has worked sparingly over the past few years, but she has three Disney-produced movies hitting theaters in the next 15 months: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (Oct. 18), the animated comedy The One and Only Ivan (Aug. 14, 2020) and Marvel's Eternals (Nov. 6, 2020).

Jolie was at Disney's D23 Expo Saturday in Anaheim, Calif. promoting two of those films, Maleficent and Eternals, and Yahoo Entertainment caught up with her (watch above).

Slipping back into the role of the eponymous villain who torments Elle Fanning's Princess Aurora in the sequel to 2014's Maleficent was surprisingly easy, Jolie admitted.

"The kids like her," she said. "I had fun with her. I do love playing her, and I missed my horns. It's almost weird — I don't know if that's good or bad that I slide very easily back and forth from me to her.

"And now in this one she has her wings in every scene. … So now she's full wings, full horns, full crazy."

Jolie became one of the highest-profile names to join the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she was cast as Thena in The Eternals, which follows a group of immortal aliens (also including Richard Madden's Icarus, Salma Hayek's Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani's Kingo and Bryan Tyree Henry's Phastos), who arrive on Earth to protect humankind from the invading Deviants. The film will also star Kit Harington as the human Dane Whitman who becomes the Avenger known as Black Knight.

"I am actually a big fan of the Marvel universe and everything [studio boss Kevin Feige has] done and what all the other artists have done, so when you get the call that you might be joining, you feel like you've been called up for service, it's very exciting in fact," she said.

"You're just wondering, 'What color am I gonna be? And what power do I have?' And you're still a little confused. It's still new for me, so I'm learning."

As revealed at a D23 panel on Saturday, Jolie will be wearing gold as Thena.
