A bride has demanded her bald sister wear a wig on her wedding day

One bride’s sister has been left unimpressed by her sibling’s demand about her appearance for her upcoming wedding day.

The user, 17, revealed in a Reddit post — via the popular subreddit "Am I The A------?" — that her elder sister, 24, has asked her to wear a wig at her wedding to cover her bald head.

The Redditor explained in the post that she has been bald ever since she was 10 years old after losing all of her hair.

“It bothered me a lot at first so I would always wear wigs to hide my baldness,” she wrote. “Since about a year I've kind of come to accept it, and now I even think I can look pretty cute even without wearing a wig, so I started wearing wigs less and less, and since about three months ago I stopped wearing them completely.”

She went on to reveal that after telling her sister she wasn’t going to wear the wig to her nuptials, which are taking place in a "few weeks," the bride made the request again “because it's just a small effort on my part.”

“I refused again because I finally got comfortable with my appearance, and I don't want to hide it anymore,” the sister explained. “She told me I'm being unreasonable because it's such a small thing to do for her wedding day and walked off."

Adding that her parents are now also involved in the discussion, she continued, "Now my parents are also trying to convince me to just do this one little thing for my sister on her special day to make her happy, but it feels like everyone is just trying to hide that I'm bald.”

The user then admitted that she would “understand” her sibling’s point of view if she hadn’t been in public before without a head covering on and “this would be the first time everyone saw me without a wig." However, "everyone has already seen me without a wig," she continued. "Everyone already knows I'm bald, so there wouldn't be any attention stealing.”

The younger sister then asked her fellow Redditors for their opinions on the situation, which garnered plenty of feedback.

One commented, “Is she also asking bald men to wear wigs? No? Then f--- no,” while another responded, “You do you, girl! Absolutely NTA.”

Others suggested that the sister wear a brightly colored wig on the big day or decorate her skin. “What if you painted your head gold or put gems all over it? Festive baldness!” wrote one. A second added, “NTA, but I would just get a bright pink wig and use that.”

However, one Redditor agreed with the elder sister’s wig request and wrote, “I mean it would be considered rude to dye your hair blue a month before a wedding too. I don’t think you are an AH for not wanting to appear as you have always appeared in the past, but I think it’s unrealistic to expect that to not upset your sister for her wedding day.”

“You made a recent decision on your appearance that matters more than looking as you have looked in years past. It’s fine but it has consequences,” they added.
