Ben Stiller is back in 'Dodgeball' mode to challenge celebs for his charity game

Dodgeball: Ben Stiller challenges celebrities to charity game

Ben Stiller has a chip on his shoulder and balls on his mind.

To promote his upcoming charity dodgeball game, the actor has reprised his villainous role from the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and is challenging celebrities such as LeBron James, Justin Bieber, and Dwayne Johnson to join him on the court.

In a series of videos rolling out on social media, Globo Gym founder White Goodman (Stiller) sports his trademark mustache and purple Spandex as he trash-talks would-be competitors and woos potential teammates.

“Hey, Bieber — you think hockey and hoops are hard?” he says in one video. “Try dodgeball, my Canadian not-friend. My balls in your face!”

Setting his sights on James, he says, “I know you’ve won a few championships on the basketball court. Just wondering, how many dodgeball championships have you won? Oh yeah, that’s right, goose egg!”

Presented in conjunction with the fundraising platform Omaze, Stiller’s game will include a few lucky fans and be played live on the Today show this fall. Proceeds will benefit the Stiller Foundation, which supports education initiatives for children around the world.

Though it’s for a good cause, the game could still get heated. Speaking to EW earlier this month, Stiller recalled how filming Dodgeball brought out the actors’ competitive sides.

“We had some very choreographed shots and things, but when you’re playing dodgeball, it’s hard not to get into it,” he said. “It’s that very visceral thing we all remember from eighth grade, so everyone was trying to do their best. I just remember laughing a lot, and feeling like gosh, this could just be the end of everything.”
