Black Mirror” is set to return to Netflix in 2025. The six-episode seventh season will include a sequel to the classic “USS Callister” episode.

“Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning,” the Charlie Brooker anthology series teased on Thursday.

Jesse Plemons played Daly. Cristin Milioti (as Nanette Cole), Jimmi Simpson (as Walton), Michaela Coel (as Shania), and Billy Magnussen (as Valdack) are among the very talented crew of the USS Callister. They have not been (officially) announced for the sequel episodes, though the new episode’s logline sure suggests they’ll be back. “USS Callister” (2017) also features the voice of Aaron Paul (as Gamer691) and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it uncredited cameo by Kirsten Dunst, who was just some random Callister employee.

Little else is currently known about “Black Mirror” Season 7.

Brooker is the “Black Mirror” creator. He’s an executive producer along with Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones. “Black Mirror” is produced by Broke & Bones and licensed to Netflix by Banijay Rights.

The news of a seventh “Black Mirror” season came out of a Netflix event at UK Next.

With all due respect to “San Junipero,” the original “USS Callister” is considered by many fans (and critics) to be the best “Black Mirror” episode. At the very least, it’s top 3. Brooker wrote the episode with William Bridges; the two won an Emmy for their efforts.

“USS Callister” also won Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Limited Series, Movie or Special, and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Limited Series or Movie. (“San Junipero” won Emmys the prior year for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or a Dramatic Special and Outstanding Television Movie.)

The OG “USS Callister” follows Capt. Robert Daly (Plemons) who presides over his crew with wisdom and courage. A new recruit (Miloti) will soon discover nothing on this spaceship is what it seems. The episode was directed by Toby Haynes.
