Blade Cast Loses Another Actor, Mia Goth’s Original Role Revealed

As Marvel Studios continues to bring its Blade reboot together, the hotly-anticipated superhero movie has lost another cast member.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Delroy Lindo — who was cast in Blade back in November 2021 — is no longer part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe project. His exit is reportedly tied to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. When Marvel Studios had to shut down its productions, the company decided to let go of most of the Blade cast, resulting in both Lindo and Aaron Pierre exiting the reboot.

Pierre’s Blade exit was previously shared by the actor himself in March 2024. While on the red carpet during the 55th NAACP Image Awards, Pierre revealed that he was “no longer part” of Blade, citing the project’s evolving nature as a reason for his departure.

Who is still part of the Blade cast?

At the time of writing, Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth remain the only actors attached to Marvel Studios’ Blade. Ali will be portraying the title character, succeeding Wesley Snipes in the role. As for Goth, THR noted that she was originally cast to play the vampire Lilith, who wanted the blood of Blade’s daughter, in a now-scrapped version of the movie that was set in the 1920s. Goth remains attached to star in Blade, which reportedly takes place in the present day now, although it’s unknown if she is still playing Lilith.

Despite Blade’s production difficulties, Marvel Studios remains invested in the project and has tapped Eric Pearson to rewrite the screenplay. Pearson previously worked on the screenplays for the MCU movies Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Black Widow (2021), as well as the upcoming Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four (both 2025).

According to THR, Marvel Studios’ new plan for Blade is to wait for Pearson’s script to be written, which won’t happen until the end of summer, and then send it out to potential directors. Whoever ends up being tapped to helm Blade will be the third, and hopefully final, director attached to the reboot. Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange were previously set to direct Blade but departed the project in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

Blade is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
