Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton are in the spotlight this season, with Colin proposing to Penelope after things got hot during the iconic carriage scene at the end of part 1. The two's on-screen romance has left fans wondering what will happen between the "Bridgerton" characters, and also what's going on between celebrities Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton behind the scenes. Are Penelope and Colin together in real life?

No. Actors Nicola Coughlan — the Irish actress also known for her role in "Derry Girls" — and English actor Luke Newton are both publicly single. Coughlan said in an interview with Extratv the two find it sweet that fans think the two are dating.

"We think it's really sweet because we truly love each other," Coughlan said."He is a really special person in my life, and I got to do this experience with him. I'll never get to do something like this again, on this scale, like are you kidding me? We're here in New York City having our premiere, so it's so nice having such a lovely friend that I can do all of this with."

Are Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan dating?

The two are both publicly single, but fans speculate there's something more. Coughlan and Newton recently attended a show screening at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin, where they were seen holding hands.

The post from Netflix UK & Ireland on Twitter, formerly X, showed the stars posing together. Comments from users include "Parents eating as always"; "They are so great together!"; and "We love to see them holding hands indeed❤️❤️." A video of Coughlan and Newton on the red carpet also made its way to TikTok, with comments including: "I am just hoping for something magical to happen in Dublin❤️I think we have all been very patient"; and "Omg I am back to my delulu land again 😭😭😭."

Are 'Bridgerton' stars Nicola and Luke in a relationship?

No. Coughlan and Newton are both publicly single, but fans sense there could be something more. Pictures of the two in Brazil were described as an "engagement photoshoot" by a fan on TikTok.

"If I didn't know that they were co-stars if I didn't know what 'Bridgerton' was I literally would think that this was their engagement shoot," said TikTok user @katieeehowell. "The way he looks at her and the way she looks at him is kind of giving friends to lovers but they don't know it yet."

Are any of the 'Bridgerton' cast dating in real life?

It is rumored that Luke Thompson, who starred as Benedict Bridgerton, is dating Harriet Cains, who played Philipa Featherington, in real life. Cains posted a photo of Thompson on Instagram in 2021 with a bunch of hearts and the caption "my favourite Luke soz @lukenewtonuk" tagging Newton.

The two were also spotted together at a Vanity Fair Rising Stars party in January 2024.

Bessie Carter, who plays Prudence Featherington, is also rumored to be dating Sam Phillips, who plays Lord Debling, according to Elle.
