You can gather much about someone's personality by knowing their horoscope sign, and celebrities are no exception.

Representing the crab and heralding the start of the summer season, Cancers are the nurturers of the zodiac, per astrologer and author Chani Nicholas.

"Cancers shine when they can care for and nurture ... [the people in their life]," she told PEOPLE. "They need to find a place in the world where that is valued."

Astrologer Gogo Akopyan of Lilith on Top Astrology added that while Cancers "can come off very emotional — moody, even," they are far from being passive. "People tend to underestimate them because they're so sensitive, but then the crab legs come out," she said. "They can be a very passionate people."

Other signature traits of this water sign include hardworking, creative and romantic — qualities we're certain these stars possess.

From Ariana Grande to Lana Del Rey, here are the celebs whose zodiac sign is Cancer.

The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter — born on the Gemini-Cancer cusp on June 21 — had her astrological chart misinterpreted for years.

"I feel like I identify with Cancer qualities. I lived my life as a Gemini — it's insane — and then I found out I was four hours short," Del Rey said during a 2023 video interview with Harper's BAZAAR

Despite the astrological mix-up, she acknowledges many similarities between herself and the distinct traits of the cardinal sign.

"I've got a go bag. I've got a truck. I carry everything I have with me on my back just like a little crab," Del Rey explained. "[A] total crybaby — tears all the time."

Of course, Meryl Streep is a Cancer! The Academy Award winner's birthday is on June 22. Think about all of those convincing performances she has given over the years — and that's due to her ability to empathize with each character she portrays.

"I've thought a lot about the power of empathy. In my work, it's the current that connects me and my actual pulse to a fictional character in a made-up story," she said during her speech at The Center for Building a Culture of Empathy. "It allows me to feel pretend feelings and sorrows and imagined pain. And my nervous system is sympathetically wired, and it conducts that current to you, sitting in a movie theater."

Cyndi Lauper

Girls (and Cancers) just want to have fun on their birthdays. However, sometimes, they also want to show their "True Colors" — just like Cyndi Lauper (born on June 22), who is "always pissed off on my birthday."

"One year, when I was 38, I remember back then I wasn't going to get up or talk to anybody," Lauper recalled to PEOPLE in June 2023. "My friends came banging on my door, and they said, 'Listen, next year you're going to be more pissed off. Come on, get up now."

With Solange Knowles' creativity, it's no surprise that she's a Cancer. The artist celebrates her birthday on June 24.

On her 37th trip around the sun in 2023, the R&B artist marked the celebration on Instagram, writing, "@cancersznisforever !!! 🎂S/o all the black women who lift me up and bring me joy every day!"

A Cancer Sun, Moon and Mercury, Mindy Kaling (born on June 24) is always working on something and fueling her hopeless romantic fantasies.

"I'm still a romantic at heart, and I write these stories about people finding love when they least expect it," the writer and actress said during an October 2023 interview on Today. "So, of course, I'm open to that, and I believe in magic and timing."

Linda Cardellini

Born on June 25, the Emmy-nominated actress — who starred on Dead to Me — is just as emotional off-screen as she is on-screen.

"I cry a lot," Cardellini said during a 2019 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "Somehow, when I'm watching animation, it breaks my heart ... I've done it twice, I've cried so hard during Finding Nemo. That was the first time that it happened, and then during Up, somebody next to me asked me if I needed to leave."

The Girls5eva star, born on June 25, is known for being vulnerable and expressing her emotions.

"Marlo Thomas told us in the '70s that it's OK to cry. It's helpful to get out your emotions, and it's actually not helpful to hold things in," she told Yahoo! Life in July 2021. "I think that the more people talk about and normalize mental health struggles or what they're going through in a real way — and not like a performative, superficial 'I'm doing this because I feel like I should be doing this' way — I think the better off we're all going to be."

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande knows that Cancers can be a little "needy." In 2019, the singer — born on June 26 — wrote in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter) in 2019: "oooof do cancers have the ability to do anything other than feeeeeeeeel feel feeeeeeeel feel feeeeeel feel."

That sentiment still reigns true for Grande, who told Variety at the 2024 Met Gala that the first day on set of filming Wicked "was the most emotional day of my life."

She added, "All I remember was holding hands with Cynthia [Erivo] and Jon [M. Chu] and crying. And [Jon] saying, 'Welcome to Wicked.' "

Never believe a Cancer when they say they have "No Tears Left to Cry."

Born on June 26, Aubrey Plaza claims to be "a double Cancer," which suggests that there's more emotion behind her deadpanned facade.

In a 2023 video interview for W Magazine, The White Lotus star celebrated Cancer season by reading her horoscope: "There will only be time for leisure if you get the hard things done efficiently. If you need to make edits, cut from the middle. A good start and a tidy finish are important."

She responded in true Cancer fashion, "Well, that's really speaking to me ... I was just crying this morning about how I have no leisure."

Kevin Winter/2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards/Getty Jacob Elordi poses backstage during the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards in L.A. on May 16, 2021.

Born on June 26, Jacob Elordi is not only able to channel that Cancer empathy into his roles in projects like Euphoria to 2023's Saltburn but also digs deep into his emotions when getting into character — especially when playing Elvis Presley in 2023's Priscilla.

"I was [at my hotel] for months, so I'd covered every inch of the wall in photos of Elvis and Priscilla with the same thing in mind: 'If I can absorb all of this, I'm not even going to think about it. I'm just going to live in it.' " the Aussie Actor told Colman Domingo in a 2023 interview for Variety's Actors on Actors series. "But I realized really quickly with Elvis that there's a deep spiritual element to him."

Elordi continued, "Something happened on the last day when he says to Priscilla, 'Maybe another time, maybe another place.' It's an emotional scene. I'd been sitting with it and hadn't really thought about it. And I just started weeping in this hotel room in Vegas."

In true Cancer fashion, Khloé Kardashian is willing to do anything for her fellow members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

In 2017, the Good American founder — who was born on June 27 — posted a photo on Instagram while writing a caption dedicated to her astrological sign: "CANCER: Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Cancer can be one of the most challenging zodiac signs to get to know. They are very emotional and sensitive, and care deeply about matters of the family and their home. Cancer is sympathetic and attached to people they keep close. Cancers are very loyal and able to empathize with other people's pain and suffering."

It certainly takes some of that Cancer creativity and passion to become as successful as Elon Musk — who celebrates his birthday on June 28. However, his frequent impassioned posts on social media are classic Cancer behavior.

During Elle's "Ask Me Anything" video series in 2023, Riverdale alum Camila Mendes — born on June 29 — shared her Big Three signs: "I'm a Cancer ... I think I'm a Leo Rising, Pisces Moon."

However, she carries conflicting beliefs regarding astrological signs, as she expressed, "I'm like, 'I don't believe in astrology,' but then I'm like, 'Oooh, that makes sense.' "

Before rebranding as a Britney Spears-esque pop star, Tate McRae (born July 1) built her music career penning emotional, sad songs ... and that checks out for a Cancer.

The Canadian songstress reflected in a 2023 video interview with Etalk, "I used to think I was nothing like a Cancer, 'cause I'm not sensitive or emotional."

McRae continued, "But I think the biggest thing with a Cancer is, like, they're very observant and aware of everything, and so they're sensitive until they can be hard. I'll care about someone so much, but if they do me dirty, I can cut them off pretty fast."

Chlöe Bailey arrives at the 2024 Urban One Honors: Best In Black in Atlanta on Jan. 20, 2024.

Celebrating her birthday on July 1, Chlöe (née Chloe Bailey) embraces Cancer qualities in her own way.

In 2023, the songstress and Praise This star discussed the Crab energy of the cardinal sign on The Relentless Diaries podcast with hosts Zoie Smith, Clyde Smith and Tresor.

"I feel like, if you could turn the Crab inside out, that is me," she said. "Like, I'm very sweet and mushy and kind [right] off [the] bat to everybody. You f--- with me, and you get the hard shell."

The "Boy Bye" singer added, "I'm a special kind of Crab, and that's what I'm gonna claim."

The prolific and ultra-creative artist and producer celebrates her birthday on July 1.

During her speech at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, she shed tears (like a true Cancer) while encouraging other creatives not to abandon their craft: "I want to say one thing to the writers, to the upcoming writers, 'Do not give up.' We all go through writer's block. Sometimes, you just have to walk away from a record and come back to it. But don't give up because I'm standing here."

Princess Diana, born on July 1, is emblematic of the Cancer zodiac sign: Empathetic, emotional and giving.

Everyone should follow "the people's princess' " wise words: "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."

Born on July 1, Pamela Anderson's storied love life is proof she is an emotional, passionate Cancer.

The former Baywatch actress told Jimmy Kimmel during a 2023 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that even after five marriages, she still hopes to find lasting love: "I still have a lot of life left."

It wasn't enough for Margot Robbie — born on July 2— to dominate the box office on-screen — so in creative, driven Cancer fashion, she started her own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. However, the Oscar-nominated actress doesn't feel like she reflects her astrological sign's traits and characteristics.

"I don't really identify as a Cancer, to be honest with you. Everything I've ever heard about Cancers doesn't sound like me: that they're very sensitive, wear their emotions on their sleeve and are real homebodies," Robbie told W Magazine in 2023. "I hate being at home; I'm not particularly sensitive, and I don't really wear my emotions on my sleeve."

The Barbie star added, "And I've checked and double-checked my rising signs and all that kind of stuff, and it's all Cancer. I think I'm, like, triple Cancer. I even checked with my mum that she didn't get my birth date wrong, which she was very offended by. I think I'm more of a Gemini, maybe."

Born on July 2, the Irish Wish actress told Interview Magazine in 2009 that she's "a Cancer, which means I'm maternal and emotional. So in relationships, I'm screwed."

That's been proven true since she welcomed her son, Luai, in 2023.

"I came home from work, and my son [Luai] was getting ready for dinner time, and I opened the door, and he was watching The Parent Trap," she said during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2024. "And I started crying because I'm like, he doesn't even know that's Mommy yet ... but it was a really magical moment. I took tons of pictures of it."

Born on July 3, Tom Cruise — the hardworking actor (who has starred in almost too many iterations of Mission: Impossible to count) — has admitted to once getting emotional on set.

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2023, Cruise opened up to Kimmel about his tear-inducing reunion with Val Kilmer for 2022's Top Gun: Maverick.

"I just want to say that was pretty emotional. I've known Val for decades, and for him to come back and play that character … he's such a powerful actor that he instantly became that character again," Cruise said. "I was crying, I was crying. I got emotional."

Post Malone's music is full of emotion and feeling, fitting for a Cancer (born July 4).

However, in Jennifer Lopez's 2024 musical This Is Me...Now: A Love Story, the "Circles" singer depicted the Leo sign within the zodiac love council (an astrologically-inspired group that scrutinizes Lopez's love life) and in the film chimes in with, "It makes me super sad, I just want to give her a big hug."

That sounds more like a Cancer to us!

"We do have a very emotional household, that's the thing about Cancers," Tamara told PEOPLE in 2022. "We could be very emotional, but we are caring. Like we're very loving, warm, caring, sometimes to a fault. But having those characteristics, being surrounded by so many Cancers is awesome."

"My daughter is such a caretaker, another characteristic of a Cancer," she continued. "She just literally will just take care of [her cousin] Cairo, and they will go off in a corner ... Tia and I would do that too."

Bacon continued, "If you take me out of it, the concept is actually beautiful because it shows that we are all connected — and not only are we connected, but we hunger for connections."

Lisa Rinna has one thing to say about her petty Cancer energy: "Own it, baby."

Born July 1, the reality TV star has earned a reputation for being a villain, often holding grudges and getting into fights on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, there's a reason for her argumentative side.

"Her hot button issue, I suppose, is injustice or when somebody else is not behaving honestly, she'll call it out," her husband, Harry Hamlin, told PEOPLE in 2023. "And that gets into a lot of trouble. But it also helps the show."

Born July 11, rapper Lil' Kim is both super creative and passionate while also possessing that oh-so-Cancerian trait of being super sensitive.

"When I first got into this industry, I received a lot of hate. I still receive a lot of hate ... I'm a sensitive person. I'm a Cancer," she said in 2016 during her speech at the WEEN (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network) Awards. "But every time I talk to God, he says, 'Let them keep hating.' "

Cancer's passion and empathy are exemplified in Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate born on July 12, who has dedicated her life to being a voice for voiceless girls all around the world.

"I care a lot about my work, and I worry about how long it would take to reach the goals we have set," she told British Vogue in July 2021. "People say, 'Malala, don't worry, it's not your responsibility, leaders should worry!' But if I have the capacity to do something to keep raising awareness, then I should."

Celebrating her birthday on July 17, musician Kali Uchis always "felt particularly connected" to her star sign.

"Ever since I was little when I first started reading about astrology, I was always amazed at how much I am Cancer," she told Sniffers in 2019. "Then later, when I got a bit older and got even deeper into astrology, I realized ... that I'm a straight Cancer like I have Cancer in a lot of different corners, so maybe that's why."

She added, " ... We're very emotional, deeply sensitive, we're nurturing. We like to nurture people in relationships, but we also need people to look after our feelings because we take things personally. But I think that we're good people."

“For most of my career I went up there going, I got to prove myself. So it’s really liberating and gratifying to just go, I am what I am,” Bryan told PEOPLE in August 2023. “I earned it the old-fashioned way: working my butt off.
