Candiace Dillard Bassett and Chris Share a Marriage Update as They Celebrate a Major Milestone

Candiace Dillard Bassett is letting the world know that her marriage bliss hasn’t waned. In fact, it appears to be only getting stronger.

The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member took a walk down memory lane this week as she celebrated her fifth anniversary with her husband, Chris Bassett. Candiace posted a stunning and heartwarming video that included highlights from her lavish wedding, which took place Aug. 11, 2018, at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

Candiace’s anniversary video featured beautiful shots of the nation’s capital, as well as footage of her walking down the aisle, clips of the couple with their wedding party, and several peeks at their gorgeous reception.

“SWANNNN!!! Cheers to FIVE YEARS!!!” Candiace captioned the Aug. 11 post. “Omg I could cry! You are my perfect everything and I will love you more every minute until infinity. Thank you for the gifts of friendship and laughter. Thank you for the gift of love. God did His good work with us and I don’t take it for granted. I’ll always drive back to you.”

Chris also celebrated the martial milestone with a sweet message to his wife. The private chef and food consultant posted a handful of photos that showed the evolution of his and Candiace’s relationship.

“From the day before it all started…..to everything in between….” he captioned the carousel shared on Aug. 11. “Happy 5 year anniversary swan…wouldnt want to do this with anyone else. I love you [Candiace].”

How did Candiace and Chris meet?

Chris proposed to Candiace in the spring of 2017, about a year before Candiace made her RHOP debut.

“We met at work. We were both, at the time, working at a restaurant in Chinatown in DC,” the 'Wife said in Season 3 Episode 2. “He was a manager. I was just a host. And he decides to ask me, ‘So when can I come cook in your kitchen?’ He’ll deny this, but I know a flirt when I see a flirt.”

Candiace admitted she never expected to be with someone like Chris, as they had very different upbringings.

“Chris and I really grew up in two different worlds,” she continued. “I’m more like the Huxtables. I was raised in a more affluent, country club situation. And Chris was not. He was definitely not what I saw for myself.”

But despite their differences, Candiace and Chris appear to be going quite strong. The husband and wife are now looking to expand their family through IVF. The Potomac ’Wife provided an update on her pregnancy journey during a May interview BravoTV.com.

“It’s definitely a priority [and] we’re getting closer,” Candiace said. “Now it’s just a matter of figuring out when the right time of year would be… I’ve joked about this, but I’m also very serious about the fact that I would love to plan around not having an Aquarian or a Gemini... I don’t need an Aquarius or a Gemini in my house."

She continued: “But on a serious note, we’re just figuring out the best time. Because Chris and I are both in a lot of positive transition spaces right now.”
