From Carrie's black diamond to Charlotte's classic Tiffany solitaire, the 'SATC' crew had no shortage of sparkle

The only thing as memorable as the men who won (and sometimes lost) the hearts of the Sex and the City ladies over the years is the clothing and accessories the characters Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) wore throughout their love affairs.

With the exception of one pair of very special Manolo Blahnik heels, nothing ahem, marries the two more than the engagement rings that were given to them. Each sparkler, be it Bradshaw's spectacular black diamond from Big (Chris Noth) to Charlotte's Elizabeth Taylor-inspired stunner from her second husband Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), captured the essence of the couples’ relationship for better — or worse.

And while Carrie said she liked her money right where she can see (that would be hanging in her closet), based on this impressive roundup of all the bling that have been on the show and in the movies, she and her pals also seem to enjoy it on their fingers.

At the end of the second SATC movie, Big presents Carrie with a black diamond ring as a gesture of renewed commitment. In true Carrie fashion, the ring, a 5-carat black diamond created by SJP herself in collaboration with SATC costume designer Patricia Fields and jewelry designer Itay Malkinwas, is anything but conventional (Of the unique bauble, Big tells her it's "because you're not like anyone else.")

Aidan (John Corbett) got Carrie not one, but two engagement rings in the series, as the fashion-forward writer was less than thrilled with the first purchase (a pear-shaped diamond on a gold band, which Miranda helped pick out). After Samantha intervenes, Aidan upgrades to a 3-carat Asscher-cut diamond from Harry Winston. In one of the show’s most memorable moments, Carrie decides to wear the ring around her neck rather than on her finger so it's, "close to her heart."

In an engagement that can be summed up with one word — "alrighty" — Trey (Kyle MacLachlan) takes Charlotte shopping for rings at Tiffany & Co and ends up proposing. In keeping with Charlotte’s classic style, the ring features a round diamond set on a platinum band. And while the marriage didn't last very long, the ring helped Carrie pay for her apartment.

Charlotte and Harry

Charlotte found true love in Harry as well as an enormous rock with the show's most heartfelt proposal to go with it (who could forget him getting on one knee at the synagogue mixer?). The 5-carat emerald cut ring was inspired by the one given to Elizabeth Taylor (Charlotte's idol) by Richard Burton in 1968.

To be clear, Samantha did not get engaged to Richard (James Remar), but this rock sure was memorable. After telling the hotel owner that her friends didn't believe he could be loyal to her, Richard presents Samantha with an enormous canary diamond ring from Harry Winston.

Yes it's another non-engagement ring for Samantha, but this floral stunner has just as much meaning as one. The unique ring, which she was planning to purchase at an auction before Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) buys it for her, features hundred of tiny diamonds in the shape of a blossoming flower by Romona M. Boucher of Bastion. Although the couple eventually broke up, the ring remained on Samantha’s finger.

Miranda and Steve

In true Miranda fashion, the lawyer proposed to Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) over beers at a local bar — and there was no ring in sight. In later episodes, she can be seen sporting a subtle gold band, which fits with her minimalist style throughout the series.
