Celebrate Pi Day on March 14 and enjoy deals on pies across Des Moines
You can't celebrate National Pi Day without indulging in a slice of pie whether it be sweet, savory or a pizza pie. We have crunched the numbers and found places with deals for 3.14 Day.
What is Pi Day?
March 14 (3.14) is a chance to celebrate Pi, one of the most important numbers ever, representing the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.
Although Pi is typically rounded down to 3.14, it can go on forever. According to Guinness World Records, the most accurate value for Pi is more than 62 trillion digits (62,831,853,071,796 to be precise). It was calculated last August by the University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.
ChaCha's Hiland Bakery: $3.14 pie slices
Starting bright and early, ChaCha's Hiland Bakery is selling slices of pie for $3.14 from 5 a.m. until they sell out. There will be seven different flavors to pick from including chocolate creme, key lime, fresh strawberry, Dutch apple, custard, bourbon pecan and a vegan/gluten-free mixed berry. The Flaky Crust Pie Shoppe: 20% off pies
Place a future order with The Flakey Crust Pie Shoppe on 3.14 Day and receive an additional 20% off your ticket. The entire spring menu will be available, including blueberry crumb, key lime, peach, and their classic Iowa State Fair blue ribbon apply pie. Home Slice Handmade Pies
Pi-priced slices will be sold at the Home Slice Handmade Pies. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., various flavored slices will be sold for $3.14. Stop by 106 Main St. Bondurant before 7 p.m. for the deal.
Molly's Cupcakes
Stop by Molly's not for a cupcake but a mini pie! The mini pies can be pre-ordered at www.mollysdsm.com or by phone at 515-244-0778. They can also be purchased in store on March 14 at 215 E. Third St., Des Moines.
Domestic Bones
For Thursday only, Domestic Bones has 10% off a spring hand pie subscription. Sign up and choose four or eight savory hand pies a month for three months, with a maximum of 12 or 24 pies. Pick up is April 1, May 2 and June 6. Orders will close on March 27 or when they sell out. There are four different flavors every month, two vegetarian and two meat. The deal is only offered through the Domestic Bones' website.
Blaze
Blaze is back with pizza pies for $3.14. The deal is limited to one pizza per person and covers kind of 11-inch pizza.
