Celebrities react to Justin Timberlake's divisive Super Bowl halftime show
The Man of the Woods isn’t quite the man of the hour at Super Bowl LII.
Twitter has taken Justin Timberlake’s wild halftime show performance to task for its inclusion of a projection of late pop icon Prince, which duetted with the singer near the end of a set that also included renditions of current single “Filthy” and past hits “Rock Your Body,” “SexyBack,” “My Love,” “Cry Me a River,” “Suit & Tie,” “Until the End of Time,” “Mirrors,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
“Okay punkass Justin Timberlake. You was cool till you pulled that Prince bullsh—,” Sinbad wrote shortly after the performance. “You dissed Prince on a track of yours and you dissed him onstage when you lowered the mic stand onstage when prince won an award. Later for ya ass.”

And then ANGER!!! To bring out Prince to improve this mediocrity is a damn embarrassment. I’m fumin #HalftimeShow

Omg. I just gasped. Prince is furious

Timberlake earned support from various celebrities, however, including Jimmy Fallon, Nick Jonas, Evangeline Lily, Ellen DeGeneres, and Chely Wright — all of whom praised the former N*SYNC member’s work.
“Wow, that was unreal,” Jonas tweeted after the show, which Lily indicated was fronted by a “class act” performer.

The only #Prince footage that #JustinTimberlake should have been allowed to use. pic.twitter.com/3QHGf4ZdBT

At the Puppy Bowl they sang with a hologram of Air Bud :(

Justin Timberlake: I’m going to perform at the Super Bowl with a Prince hologram.

To be fair MLK’s ghost is probably happier he’s selling cars than performing with Justin Timberlake
— Ira Madison III (@ira) February 5, 2018
Two words. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. Wow that was unreal. LEGEND. #SuperBowl
— Nick Jonas (@nickjonas) February 5, 2018
Yeah, this goes against everything Prince ever said about posthumous performances. Ugh.
— Alan Sepinwall (@sepinwall) February 5, 2018
YESSSSS!!!! THAT IS HOW YOU DO IT!! Magic. Loved THAT! See you in a few. #PepsiHalftime #JustinTimberlake

#HalftimeShow #justintimberlake two words...CLASS ACT
— Evangeline Lilly (@EvangelineLilly) February 5, 2018
Me too.
JT is unbelievably talented.@jtimberlake https://t.co/mim9e21cQ0— Chely Wright (@chelywright) February 5, 2018
Katy Perry did not ride a 30 foot tall golden lion, Beyoncé did NOT perform a tribute for Black Lives Matter and Lady Gaga did NOT fall off a roof for Justin Timberlake to disrespect Prince and wear a camouflage suit at the Super Bowl

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IS BEYOND CANCELLED. pic.twitter.com/vZucoKYqNw

Lol Justin Timberlake is the cartoon representation of white male mediocrity
— Lauren Duca (@laurenduca) February 5, 2018
Justin Timberlake walking in to the stadium to the song that got Janet banned is so disrespectful

Justin Timberlake threw Prince on that Bed, Bath and Beyond curtain and I was just staring at the screen like: pic.twitter.com/Tev6wVH5aL

"If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing... it really is demonic." -Prince
Yet, Justin Timberlake does it with video screen, even though was never meant to play #SuperBowlSunday with Prince.— Kevin Gosztola (@kgosztola) February 5, 2018
Who said it was a hologram?!
— Questlove Gomez (@questlove) February 5, 2018
Let's go through the history. While he was alive, Justin repeatedly disrespected Prince..doing a diss track against him and making fun of his height at the Golden Globes. Prince couldn't stand him. Justin has never appropriately addressed his treatment of Prince. https://t.co/HfByGT7rJy
— Yashar Ali ???? (@yashar) February 5, 2018
Disagree. Is the point that any Prince tribute is off-limits? He was in Minneapolis, so I appreciated the gesture, and it was NOT a hologram.

Rethinking this entire Justin Timberlake halftime situation and realizing I just can’t forgive him for what he did to Britney and Janet Jackson. You heard me. #GaySuperBowl

And that’s how it’s done .... Mr. @jtimberlake
— Hugh Jackman (@RealHughJackman) February 5, 2018
Well done @jtimberlake you killed it! #nfl #pepsihalftime
— *NSYNC (@NSYNC) February 5, 2018
My friend @JTimberlake just killed it. #SuperBowl #JustinTimberlake pic.twitter.com/oZv0YcxsrN

'Gaga: Five Foot Two,' which is excellent, showed how much thought and rehearsal an artist should put into performing at the Super Bowl. Tonight's JT set felt like scraps recycled from past tours.
