Celine Dion made her red-carpet comeback on Monday evening for the New York City premiere of her new documentary, I Am: Celine Dion.

For the first time since being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome—a rare neurological disorder that causes painful muscle spasms and stiffness—back in 2022, Dion walked the red carpet in an elegant silky white set at Alice Tully Hall.

The musical powerhouse went the monochromatic route, opting for a white long-sleeved button-down with a pussy bow necktie, which she then tucked into a floor-sweeping white column skirt. She kept the rest of her outfit to a minimum, simply accenting the look with a thin crystal-bedazzled belt, a stack of pearl and silver bracelets, and pearl stud earrings.

According to the film’s official synopsis, I Am: Celine Dion will give fans “a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness.” The movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video on June 25.

In addition to producing painful muscle spasms, SPS also causes “greater sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional distress, which can set off muscle spasms” and thus make it more difficult to complete everyday tasks, such as walking or moving, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” Dion said in a statement when her documentary was first announced in January. “As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Following the movie's screening on Monday, Dion emotionally thanked her fans amid a standing ovation. “Thank you to all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of my journey. This movie is my love letter to each of you,” she said, per Variety. “I hope to see you all again very, very soon.”
