Charlamagne Tha God Crowns Kendrick Lamar The “King Of Hip-Hop”

Charlamagne Tha God makes his opinion on who runs Hip-Hop clear. In a clip from a virtual episode of The Breakfast Club, the host gives Kendrick Lamar his praises. The commentary comes after the Compton rapper hosted the historical Ken And Friends Pop Out in Inglewood, Calif. on Juneteenth.

“Kendrick set the tone. He let us know that this was a victory lap, and he came there to blood and crip-walk on his enemy’s head-top,” explained the Black Privilege author. “To me, the show wasn’t about Drake as much it was about Kendrick Lamar becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of Hip-Hop,” explains the author.

He continued to explain, “When it comes to this new generation, we’ve been watching over the last fifteen years, Kendrick is the king of Hip-Hop, and it’s not even close. I’m not talking about charts, I’m not talking about streaming records, I’m not talking about pop songs, singing on songs, I’m talking about bars, rap, hip-hop, culture. Kendrick wears that crown and it’s not even close.”

“It was bigger than the Drake beef,” added DJ Envy in agreement. “What he did for L.A. and the fact that he unified so many different hoods, so many different communities, so many different gangs, had ’em all on one stage. What he did for Hip-Hop last night…amazing.”

The Ken And Friends Pop Out, also featured opening sets curated and performed by DJ Hed and Mustard with E-40 narrating the historic affair. For three hours, Los Angeles Hip-Hop and dance acts invited the world to the West through an Amazon livestream.

Kendrick Lamar ended the showcase with us chart-topping Drake diss “Not Like Us,” echoing six times in a row. For the last playback, he was joined on stage by Russell Westbrook, Mustard, and the aforementioned list of talent for joyous dancing, fiery lyric recitation, and a legendary photo.

“This s**t making me emotional,” detailed the acclaimed rapper on stage in front of a sold-out audience at the Kia Forum. We been f**ked up since Nipsey died. We been f**ked up since Kobe died. Let the world see this!”
