'Charlotte's Web the Musical' opens Thursday
Oct. 11—RUSHVILLE — Live theater in Rush County is alive and well, and with that in mind Rushville Regional Theatre, Inc. is presenting "Charlotte's Web the Musical" at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 and 14 and 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Laughlin Center for Performing Arts.
The play is based on the favorite classic by E.B. White, and many actors of all ages from Rush and surrounding counties have been working since late August to prepare for the shows.
Charlotte the spider is played by Julie Gilpin, an RTT veteran, while Wilbur the pig is played by Zachary Hampton. With a supporting cast of many barn animals and humans of all ages, the variety of actors is a treat.
You will enjoy many songs, barnyard mayhem when Wilbur tries to escape the farm, the anticipation of whether or not Wilbur will win the blue ribbon at the county fair, and the hatching of Charlotte's spider egg sac. (No, there won't be 514 baby spiders in the Laughlin Center, but there will be some cute little ones!)
There is plenty to keep everyone entertained, so bring the whole family!
"We have had great support from the community with some sponsors stepping up to help us with expenses of a full musical performance," theater board member Michele Orme said. "We had a successful musicale in the spring, but a full musical is a little different as far as difficulty and costs are concerned. We can't thank the sponsors and donors enough for believing in us and helping bring this show to fruition."
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Mocha Moose, Rushville Pharmacy or from any cast member. Tickets will also be available at the door.
