Social media has changed the way that many industries work, and professional wrestling is no different, according to Chris Jericho.

Speaking to MSN, Jericho opened up about social media. He shared his thoughts on how it both helps and hurts the development and popularity of professional wrestlers.

“Back in those days, you could have really bad matches for years and you would learn,” Chris Jericho said. “Now, it’s all up for everyone to see.”

On the other hand, being able to be seen at any time means you can generate your own buzz instead of waiting for someone to find you.

“One of the benefits is you can be seen on YouTube and if you’re really good you can suddenly create a real big buzz for yourself much faster than back in the day,” Jericho said. “In the early days of my career, it was more done by word of mouth, magazines, the different territories that you’re working in Japan or something you could build an image and then come to the States.”
