Christmas at the Conservatory to kick off the holiday week

Join the Franklin Park Conservatory for a magical, twinkling, holiday experience. Conservatory Aglow transforms the gardens and interior biomes into an explosion of lights. Wander through the displays and visit annual favorites such as various ornament trees, an astounding life-size gingerbread house, the Whirly Tree and the Paul Busse Garden Railway train display. The event is scheduled to run from 5 to 9 p.m. nightly through December and from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $15.50 and can be purchased by visiting www.fpconservatory.org. Tunes, brews and pierogis

Finish up that last-minute holiday shopping then relax at the Guernsey Brewhouse. Bo Jamison & Company will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Jamison's gritty, soulful sound is sure to brighten your spirit. And if all those festive activities made you hungry, fear not. The Forking Pierogi will be on-site serving warm, fresh pierogi. Teen holiday festival

The Pathways Fellowship Youth Center will host a Christmas carnival for middle and high school students from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday. Join Big Zack for games, prizes, fellowship and a late night round of dodgeball. Food and drinks will be provided and students from all school districts are welcome. Winter Blitz

Don't miss your chance to experience this holiday festival for all ages. The Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is packed with football-themed family fun this winter. The unique event features different attractions each weekend such as the Touchdown Tube Hill, Igloo Village Field Experience and even Campfire Cocoas. According to the Facebook event page, "Visitors can also indulge in hot cocoa and cookies at the Cocoa Hut located in the Fan Engagement Zone with the added option of a Winter Blitz souvenir mug." The event runs from noon to 8 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays into January. Tickets start at $6 and go up, depending on ride time and added amenities. Purchase tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
