Cin-Emma Extra: Leading ladies of action

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — If you’re looking to escape the heat, you can cool off by instead bringing the heat to the small or big screen.
There’s been a growing trend of women taking the lead in action flicks and KOIN 6 resident movie buff Emma Jerome has some new titles featuring leading ladies in the genre.
First up is “Trigger Warning,” which follows a skilled special forces commando who takes ownership of her father’s bar after he suddenly dies and soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang running rampant in her hometown.
Starring Jessica Alba, “Trigger Warning” is currently streaming on Netflix.
This year has been filled with movies based on true stories – with some liberties taken – and “The Bikeriders” is one of the latest.
In 1967, photographer Danny Lyon published a photo book after following the Outlaws Motorcycle Club founded in McCook, Illinois. It tells the stories of a band of brothers who, when they felt they had no one, they found each other.
Starring Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, and Austin Butler, “The Bikeriders” is in theaters now.
When talking about acting range, Jodie Comer easily comes to mind as the characters she plays are never carbon copies of one another.
One of her highlights is “Killing Eve,” a series that follows a British intelligence investigator tasked with capturing a psychopathic assassin. As the chase progresses, the two develop a mutual obsession.
Starring Comer and Sandra Oh, you can stream “Killing Eve” on Netflix now.
The next is “Free Guy,” which tells the story of a bank teller who discovers that he is a non-player character in a massively multiplayer online game who then partners with a player to find evidence that a gaming company’s CEO stole the player’s game’s source code.
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Comer, you can stream “Free Guy” on Disney Plus and Hulu right now.
