Cirque du Soleil meets Nashville in country-themed show coming to Columbus

Beyoncé did it, then Post Malone. Now, Cirque du Soleil is going country.
In a partnership with Universal Music Group Nashville, the high-energy circus entertainment company is hitting the road with "Songblazers," a new production that pays tribute to legendary and modern pioneers of country music.
The tour, which premieres July 2 in Music City, comes through Columbus Dec. 11-15 for eight shows at Mershon Auditorium. It's Cirque du Soleil's 17th visit to Columbus, according to a press release from Irvin Public Relations.
Presales are already underway and general sales begin at 10 a.m. June 25 at ticketmaster.com.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11-13; noon, 3:30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 14; 2 and 6 p.m. Dec. 15.
Interestingly, Zerina Akers, the wardrobe designer for "Songblazers," is best known for her longtime work with Beyoncé.

In addition to awe-inspiring acrobatics and gravity-defying aerial acts, the show features an original song, "Carnival Heart," by Sam Williams, grandson of country trailblazer Hank Williams and son of outlaw country heavyweight Hank Williams Jr.
