Crumbl is opening a Newport location. We got a sneak peek of the space (and the cookies)

Crumbl Cookies is opening a Newport location this week. So, as investigative journalists, we visited the store ahead of its opening, getting a sneak peek of the space and eating its cookies.

The Newport spot, opening Friday, May 31, marks the newest location for what has become the fastest-growing dessert chain in the United States, per The New York Times. Four of us attended a VIP event Wednesday, getting to taste part of the store's rotating menu, which brings six new cookies every Monday.

On the docket were Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk, Banana Split, Chocolate Sea Salt Toffee, Cookie Butter Lava (featuring Lotus Biscoff) and Cowboy Cookie.

Newport treated us to the chain's new mini cookies, which are about half the size of Crumbl's normal treats. The fun-sized cookies are available only Mondays in what Crumbl has dubbed Mini Mondays.

So which was our favorite? Two people loved the Banana Split and one ate the Chocolate Sea Salt Toffee in three seconds. For me, I couldn't get over the Cookie Butter Lava.

You can see more of our reactions in the video at the top of the page. It was a day we'll remember forever.

The store located at 1313a Monmouth St. will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. It will be closed on Sundays. Those with the Crumbl app can take advantage of a 30-day promo code, "KYNEWPORT," which is good for one free chocolate chip cookie at the Newport location beginning Friday.
