Devin Dawson and Leah Sykes Are Pregnant, Expecting Their First Baby, a Girl: 'Hardest Secret to Keep'

Devin Dawson and Leah Sykes are going to be parents!

On Monday, the two musicians shared a joint post on Instagram announcing the exciting news that they are expecting their first baby together. The pair also revealed they will be welcoming a baby girl.

Posting a few photos, the happy couple posed with their sonogram photos outside and inside their house, with Sykes placing a hand on her bump in one photo. Another photo showed the couple with their two dogs, holding up their sonogram photos on a couch.

"This has been the hardest secret to keep but… we couldn’t be more excited to share that we will be welcoming our baby GIRL this July! 🩷," they captioned their post.

In 2019, Dawson, 34, and Sykes, 26, tied the knot in Franklin, Tennessee. Ahead of their wedding, the couple chatted with PEOPLE about what life together would look like.

At the time, Dawson said he was excited to take their love to the “ultimate level.”

“I’m excited to celebrate with our family, to grow together even stronger, to work through the hard times, to start a family and to always have someone closer than close,” he said.

Before their big day, Dawson told PEOPLE that he and Sykes chose their wedding venue (which played an important role during and immediately after the American Civil War’s Battle of Franklin in 1864) because it was the ideal setting for an autumn ceremony.

“The property has a perfect set up for a fall wedding with the garden, foliage and a 250-year-old oak tree serving as an incredibly gorgeous and natural altar,” said the couple, who added that they chose a color scheme of Dawson’s signature black, as well as merlot and champagne, to decorate the space.

Speaking with PEOPLE in April at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards, the “All on Me” singer opened up about his proposal to Sykes, saying that he “could go on forever” when it came to how he popped the question.

“I grew up in Northern California. She’d never been to San Francisco so we went to San Francisco for the weekend,” Dawson said. “The long story short is, I took her around the whole city. I think she expected me to propose at this place, at Twin Peaks, at Ocean Beach and I didn’t do it until the very end.”

“We went up to a rooftop at Virgin Hotels,” he continued. “They let us have the whole rooftop to ourselves, and I got down on one knee and she just started bawling.”

Dawson previously told PEOPLE that his proposal came on the day of the couple’s two-year anniversary.

“I’ve known for a while now that I wanted that to be the day I propose to her,” the Dark Horse singer said. “I wanted to set that day in stone so we could always remember how important March 10th is to us.”
