Following three successful seasons, The Legend of Hanuman series returns to digital platforms with its much-anticipated fourth season. For those unaware, It is an animated series that brings to life the epic tale of Hanuman.

The series chronicles Hanuman’s journey, highlighting his transformation from a humble forest dweller to a powerful warrior and devoted disciple of Lord Rama. The Legend of Hanuman is praised for its animation, storytelling, and voice acting, which attract viewers of all ages.

The Legend of Hanuman franchise made its digital debut on January 29, 2021, with 13 episodes. Following the first season’s success, makers announced their second season on July 27, 2021, comprising 13 episodes. Additionally, the third season was released on January 12, 2024, with only 6 episodes.

The Legend of Hanuman Season 4 began streaming on June 5, 2024, continuing its journey on Disney Plus Hotstar. Many fans are already enjoying the latest episodes, while others are still catching up. Directed by Jeevan J. Kang and Navin John, the series is released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Marathi.

Discussing the plot of Season 4, writer Sharad Devarajan said, “In Season 4, we dive into a mighty set of battles for our heroes against the two immense threats of Kumbhkaran and Indrajit. Each of these battles will require Hanuman to also look within himself to find new truths about the meaning of power and how he must wield his own immense strength in order to succeed.”

Being an animated series, it features voice performances from notable actors. Sanket Mhatre voices Shree Rama, and Surbhi Pandey lends her voice to Sita. Additionally, Damandeep Singh Baggan voices Hanuman, Vikrant Chaturvedi as Sugreev, and Richard Joel as Lakshmana, among others. Interestingly, in Season 4, prominent actor Sharad Kelkar lends his voice to the character of Ravana.

While discussing his experience, Sharad Kelkar expressed, “Voice acting is far more challenging than face acting, and it’s a craft that often goes unrecognized. Seeing it gain popularity now makes me very happy. I am incredibly proud to be part of The Legend of Hanuman. This series has beautifully brought animation into the OTT space, showcasing the greatness of Indian scriptures and revolutionizing animation in the Indian OTT space. While the previous seasons released all episodes simultaneously, Season 4 adopts a different approach by releasing episodes weekly. Only two episodes have been released: Shadows of the Past and The Unlikely Heroes, each with a runtime of around 20 minutes. This shift has sparked disappointment among fans. One netizen expressed frustration on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Hotstar, The Legend of Hanuman for the last 3 Seasons you released all episodes at a time. Now releasing weekly wise this. This is the reason why web series shouldn’t become famous. Because of us your arrogance it became because we watched and you released all at a time don’t be(sic).”
