Nickelodeon has fans seeing double the Dora!

Kathleen Herles, who played the children’s show character from 2000 to 2007, linked up with Dora’s new voice actress Diana Zermeño for an Instagram Reel showing off their best Dora mannerisms. In the 2024 reboot of the educational program — titled Dora — Herles, 33, voices Mami, the mother of Zermeño’s Dora.

At the beginning of the video, Herles quipped, “I’m the voice of Dora! Of course I grew up to voice her mom in the new show.”

The clip also sees Herles and Zermeño, 11, volley habits they picked up as Dora’s voice actresses, from using her intonation in everyday situations to pausing for an audience response.

Under the Reel, Nickelodeon wrote, “the new voice of Dora and the OG voice of Dora met up... of course it was epic!”

Dora the Explorer ran on Nickelodeon from August 2000 to 2019. Focused on the adventures of a young Latina girl named Dora Márquez with her monkey friend Boots, the series sought to teach its young audience basic Spanish words.

In February 2022, Paramount+ announced that it would reboot the animated series, which premiered on April 12, 2024. Shortly after Dora’s launch, the show was renewed for a second season.

Herles opened up in a 2024 Washington Post interview about her role as a staple of many childhoods. She admitted, “Having this identity of being Dora since I was 7 — I didn’t know who I was outside of that.”

She recalled that when she landed the part of Mami, “all the memories came flooding back.”

“I remember stepping into the booth for the first time [when I was 7] to record for the show, and I never felt so safe,” she shared.
