A new Dune: Messiah trailer has dropped and fans are wondering if it is real or fake. The curiosity and concerns about trailers being legitimate are not unfounded. This is because there has been a recent surge of multiple online trailers dropping and later being debunked as fake and fan-made.

Yes, the Dune: Messiah trailer is fake and fan-made.

The fake trailer uses footage from Dune and Dune Part Two. It also uses AI-generated images of Timothée Chalamet‘s Paul Atreides and Zendaya‘s Chani. Moreover, the trailer uses AI-generated voiceovers of Anya Taylor-Joy and Timothée Chalamet.

This fake trailer was created and uploaded by KH Studio, a YouTube channel. This channel is well known for making and uploading fake or concept trailers for movies and TV shows that are yet to be released, are not in development, or have not been conceptualized yet.

As of writing, KH Studio has uploaded 174 fake/concept trailers and has accumulated 237K subscribers.

When will Dune: Messiah come out?

It is unclear exactly when Dune: Messiah will come out as an official release date for it has not been set as of June 2024.

Moreover, fans may have to wait for a very long time before they can see Dune Messiah, as Denis Villeneuve expressed his wishes to plan the film out and develop it properly as he does not want to rush it out. Speaking to The Times, he said:

“There is absolutely a desire to have a third one, but I don’t want to rush it. The danger in Hollywood is that people get excited and only think about release dates, not quality.”

Denis Villeneuve also expressed his intentions to Vanity Fair of waiting for a few years before releasing Dune Messiah as he wanted Timothee Chalamet to be older in order to keep with Dune Messiah’s timeline, as it is set 12 years after the events of the first book. Thus, Dune: Messiah could come out sometime in 2029 or 2030 when Chalamet will be much older.
