Breakfast in the park

A Breakfast in the Park will be offered as part of the Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival in Audubon Mill Park on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 8-10:30 a.m. Enjoy live music and food prepared by Henderson's own Hometown Roots. On the menu are eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and roasted red potatoes. Adult plates will be $12, and kids' plates $6. All proceeds will help keep Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival free to the public.

Evening farmers market

A Downtown Evansville Night Market will be presented by Deaconess Hospital on Friday, Aug. 11, from 5-8 p.m. on Sixth Street from Main Street to Sycamore. Stop for local produce, food trucks, local makers and vendors, live music, a beer garden by Arcademie, entertainment and more.

Customer appreciation day means moonshine!

The Liquor Locker on North First Avenue will host a Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, Aug. 11 from 4-6 p.m. Stop for tastings of Old Smoky Moonshine, hamburgers and hot dogs, and giveaways.

Marching band rib fundraiser

The Mater Dei Marching Wildcats (the reigning ISSMA Class D State Champions) are selling full slabs of dry rub smoked ribs for pickup on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 1-4 p.m. at Mater Dei High School. Orders are due by Monday, Aug. 21. Ribs are $25 per slab and will be hot and ready to eat at pick up time. To order, e-mail Amie Hulfachor at ahulfachor@gmail.com.

Sample the world at Downtown pizzeria

Pangea Pizzeria is now serving $5 pizza slices all day every day. Stop in any time to sample a selection of favorites with staples such as "Cupperoni" pepperoni, Margherita with fresh tomato and Mozzarella, or Pangea's famous pistachio with sausage and hot honey. Or try choose from a list of changing exotic pies such as the al Pastor (Mexican marinated pork and pineapple sauce), Cacio E Pepe (White cheese sauce, roasted tomato and cracked pepper) or whatever the chef dreams up that day.

New Henderson BBQ-scented candle

Thomason's Barbecue in Henderson has partnered with Maddox & Rose in Louisville, Ky., to create their own hickory smoke and spice scented candle called SMOKE, available in 5-ounce and 12-ounce sizes. It will launch on Friday, Aug 11, from 1-5:30 p.m. in the Thomason's Banquet Hall.

Ice cream for a cause

Y'all and River City Pride will present Fill All My Bowls at the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library's Central branch on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 2-4 p.m. Ice cream will be served in ceramic bowls handmade by local artists, which will be the participant's to take home. There will also be live music, a DJ, an auction, and opportunities to learn about Y'all and the needs of local transgender and gender diverse people. Proceeds will help fill financial gaps for gender affirming needs. Tickets are $25 per person or $30 for early entry, as ceramic bowls will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Refunds will not be available, but tickets may be transferred to someone else.
