Despite the poor reception from the next-gen update Bethesda sent out recently, Fallout 4 is still one of the more popular entries in the series. Modders alone are keeping it alive, and sometimes fan-made content is able to raise a lot of money for a good cause.

Sheogorath lends his voice

Those who follow the Fallout 4 modding community may already be familiar with the Sim Settlements project. Well, along with a bunch of others, this particular team has just released Shady Motives, a mod for the game that’s raising funds for charity.

The custom download not only features a new questline, new weapons, and more, it also features the voice work of one Wes Johnson. Now, even if you don’t know the name, you’ll almost certainly be familiar with his work, especially if you’re a fan of Bethesda games.

Johnson has lent his voice acting prowess to the likes of Starfield, Fallout 3, 4, and 76, and has been involved in the Elder Scrolls series. Perhaps his most famous role was that of the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath. You can listen to a brief clip from the F4 mod here.

As mentioned by the Sim Settlements team, Shady Motives is a free download for both the PC and Xbox version of the base game. The description on Nexus Mods does say you’ll need version 1.10.163.0 or above, as well as the Automatron DLC.

According to a recent report from VG247, the mod has already raised more than $16,000, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Things like this really show the acts of kindness that exist in the gaming world. While the star power of Wes Johnson is a good enough drive to help get the mod noticed, the fact that it’s encouraging charitable donations for a worthy cause is what makes this extra special.

If you would like to contribute, there’s a donation page that the Fallout 4 modding team has linked to, which you can find here.
