Dec. 17

Diamond Rio. Grammy Award-winners bring their Holiday & Hits tour to New Philadelphia. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $53 and are on sale at the Performing Arts Center box office, 330-308-6400 or online at www.kent.edu/tuscpac. 26th annual Christmas in the Park. This free, family-friendly event at Tuscora Park will have light displays, carriage rides, ice displays, Santa and his reindeer, and more. Live music is scheduled throughout the evening to help keep you entertained while the kiddos ride the park rides. The event is scheduled to run from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Dec. 19

Away In The Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas. This musical comedy takes you back to 1959 and the day of the Sunday school Christmas program. The Church Ladies will perform at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale at the Performing Arts Center box office, 330-308-6400, or online at www.kent.edu/tuscpac. Dec. 20

The Longest Night Service. Join First Christian Church at 6:30 p.m. for a special holiday service. This service of prayer, scripture, music, and candle lighting is aimed at helping to acknowledge God's constant presence when mourning and facing difficult times. Special music will be provided by Tom Apel. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1127 Beatty Ave., Cambridge.

Dec. 22

Christmas at the Castle. A scenic drive to Loudonville is rewarded once you arrive at Landoll’s Mohican Castle. The perfect holiday activity, stroll the grounds and admire the castle. Check out beautifully decorated trees and on Friday and Saturday evenings children can visit with Santa Claus. Sunday through Thursday there is no admission, and the cost is $10 per carload on the Santa nights. You can purchase a car pass in advance by visiting www.eventbrite.com/e/123739449023. Dec. 23

North Pole Outpost. Stop by the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center for a day of North Pole-themed activities. Visit the pro shop for cookie decorating, mailing letters to Santa, and holiday crafts for the kids. The cost is $10 per child; lodge and cabin guests are free. Dec. 24

Christmas Eve service. The Batesville United Methodist Church will hold a candlelighting service at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The church is located at Ohio 513 in Batesville. For more information call 740-679-2608.

Dec. 31

Backbone. A local favorite, Backbone will be performing at 9 p.m. at the Southgate Hotel Tiki Lounge for New Year's Eve. There is a $10 cover charge per person, and guests must be 21 or over. Pork and sauerkraut will be served at midnight. Southgate Hotel and Tiki Lounge, 2248 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge.

NYE Bash. Celebrate at Downtown Arena at the annual New Year's Eve party. The upstairs lounge will open at 9 p.m. with DJ Dance Crave. Pork and sauerkraut will be served at midnight along with a champagne toast. There is a $10 cover charge per person, and guests must be 21 or over. Downtown Arena, 1005 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge.
