Evil is afoot in the trailer for The First Omen.
On Wednesday, 20th Century Studios debuted the first trailer for the prequel to the classic horror franchise, which began with 1976's The Omen starring Gregory Peck.
According to a synopsis, this story is about a young American woman who is "sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church." However, "she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate."
Servant star Nell Tiger Free leads the cast, which also includes Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga, Ralph Ineson and Bill Nighy. First Omen is directed by Arkasha Stevenson.
Aside from three sequels after the original Omen film, a remake was released in 2006 starring Julia Stiles, Liev Schreiber and Mia Farrow.
In January 2023, Free, 24, teased the new horror prequel in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter while promoting the series finale of the Apple TV+ series Servant.
"I can tell you that we have finished shooting. We have made the movie. It matches Servant with how much I truly loved the project and how excited I am about it," she said at the time. "Even though there are notes and elements that are similar to Servant and [my character] Leanne, it’s so wildly different."
