Fla. Father Found Unconscious Accused of Killing Wife and 2-Year-Old Son, Leaving Newborn Unharmed

A Florida father is accused of murdering his wife and 2-year-old son in the family’s home before attempting suicide.

Police in Plantation conducting a welfare check found 38-year-old Sara Ashley Gama and her son, Ethan, dead, NBC 6, CBS Miami and WSVN reported.

Gama’s husband, Jean Carlos Aponte was found unconscious, the result of a possible intentional drug overdose, the outlets reported, citing police. Gama and Aponte’s infant child was found unharmed.

Broward County Jail records indicate that Aponte is currently in custody and is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. It is not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney or entered a plea.

CBS reported that a judge ordered Aponte to undergo a mental health evaluation due to the alleged suicide attempt.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Gama worked in marketing for Kaplan, the education services company.
