A pair of breathtaking snapshots of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, taken during this year’s Trooping the Colour have us doing a double take—and you’ll see why in a second.

During the annual parade, Princess Catherine (who is still undergoing medical treatment for her cancer diagnosis) rode alongside her three children—Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—in the Glass Coach and waved to onlookers from the window.

For the special event, Princess Catherine, 42, rocked a gorgeous Jenny Packham white dress with a black and white bow at the neckline, a Phillip Treacy hat and the honorary Irish Guards Regimental Brooch. One photo taken by royal photographer Karwai Tang shows the mother of three smiling as she gazes out of the carriage window.

The image shows the princess perfectly framed by the window, staring directly into the camera. The picture is wildly impressive considering it was taken while she was riding in a moving carriage. Even this black-and-white photograph of the royal princess is so spot-on that it almost looks fake (don’t worry, it’s not).

But even the more candid shots taken of the royal at Trooping the Colour caught our eye. Another stunning photo taken of Princess Catherine and her youngest son, Prince Louis, shows the pair smiling as they look out the carriage window together. For the occasion, the 6-year-old royal wore a navy blue suit, a white button-up shirt and a sky blue tie.

Ahead of her long-awaited public appearance during Trooping the Colour, the Princess of Wales announced that she would be attending the annual event by sharing a surprise statement on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of herself standing under a tree, the princess wrote in the caption, “I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.”

We need to know your technique for posing so perfectly, Kate.
