Han Sun-Hwa is a South Korean actress and singer, currently starring in JTBC’s K-drama My Sweet Mobster. Previously, the former member of the K-pop girl group Secret appeared in Ji Chang-Wook’s Backstreet Rookie.

The actress started her acting career in 2010 with the drama named More Charming By The Day. Earlier, Sun-Hwa used to appear on television in shows like Superstar Survival and Invincible Youth. Later, she made appearances in several music and variety shows.

Currently, Sun-Hwa plays the leading role in K-drama My Sweet Mobster. Aside from the rom-com series, she has been featured in many dramas. Take a look at some of them here:

My Sweet Mobster

My Sweet Mobster is a 2024 ongoing K-drama starring Han Sun-Hwa and Uhm Tae-Goo in lead roles. It is the story of a former gangster, Seo Ji-Hwan, who attempts to redeem himself and embarks on a new journey. He becomes a CEO and helps ex-convicts find a meaningful life and leave their criminal records behind. One day, he bumps into Go Eun-Ha and realizes she is his childhood friend.

Eun-Ha is a content creator for children and is known as a “mini sister.” Her videos are inspired by her and Sun-Hwa’s childhood friendship. She can see through the rough and tough Sun-Hwa and helps him regain his innocence. Along the way, the two will likely become more than friends. In addition to the two, the K-drama also stars Kwon Yool in the lead role. The drama airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays on JTBC.

Backstreet Rookie

Backstreet Rookie is a 2020 K-drama starring Ji Chang-Wook and Kim You-Jung in the leading roles. It tells the story of a convenience store part-timer, Jung Saet-Byul, who is very good at her job. However, her manager, Choi Dae-Hyun, is suspicious of her. The official synopsis reads, “An audacious part-timer who is great at her job and a well-meaning manager who is suspicious of the new hire team up to keep a convenience store afloat.”

Actress Sun-Hwa plays the role of Yoo Yeon-Joo, Dae-Hyun’s rich girlfriend. She gets jealous of her boyfriend and Saet-Byul’s bond. The drama also stars Kim Min-Gue, Do Sang-Woo, and Ahn Sol-Bon in prominent roles. Fans can watch the series on Netflix.

School 2017

School 2017 is a teen drama revolving around high school students’ struggles. It tells the story of two 18-year-olds, Ra Eun-Ho (Kim Se-Jeong) and Hyun Tae-Woon (Kim Jung-Hyun). Eun-Ho is a cheerful girl who wants to be a webtoon artist. However, she somehow gets entangled in someone else’s evil plans and is labeled as the school’s troublemaker. With her dreams at risk, she faces the discrimination of rich and poor. Tae-Woon is the school director’s son with a bad-boy attitude. After losing his best friend in an accident, his life turns upside down.

When the two bond, they stand up against discrimination and corrupt school system. They are not alone as they have two close friends — Soo-Ji (Han Sun-Hwa) and Dae-Hwi (Jang Dong-Yoon). The K-drama is available on many streaming platforms, including Viki and Netflix.

Marriage, Not Dating

Marriage, Not Dating is a 2014 K-drama starring Yeon Woo-Jin as Gong Ki-Tae and Han Groo as Joo Jang-Mi. It is about a man who never wants to get married and brings a fake girlfriend to meet his family. Ki-Tae is a wealthy plastic surgeon whose family is forcing him to get married. He gets frustrated with the constant badgering and hence brings Jang-Mi home. He thinks she is someone his family will never approve of.

Sun-Hwa plays one of the main roles of Kang Se-Ah in the drama. She bagged Best Youth Actress for the series at the 16th Seoul International Youth Film Festival.
