“Home Alone” actor Ken Hudson Campbell launches GoFundMe to help pay for cancer surgery

Steve Carell, Jeff Garlin, and Tim Meadows are among those who have donated.

Ken Hudson Campbell, best known for playing Santa in Home Alone, as well as kissing Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, was recently diagnosed with cancer and his family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for his surgery to fight the disease.

"Ken Hudson Campbell is an accomplished film, TV, and voice-over actor, and improvisational comedian who has been a card-carrying union member for upwards of 35 years," his daughter Michaela wrote on the fundraising page. "On October 27th, 2023, Ken was diagnosed with cancer, a tumor had elusively grown on the bottom of his mouth and it began encroaching on his teeth."

Campbell is undergoing surgery to have "a large part of his jawbone" removed and reconstructed, which will result in six months of recovery and chemotherapy treatments. The GoFundMe account — which is nearing its goal of $100,000 — was created to help cover Campbell's out-of-pocket medical expenses as he recovers.

Famous friends like Steve Carell, Jeff Garlin, and Tim Meadows have already contributed, with Carell, a fellow Second City alum, posting, "Love you Ken."

“Ken Campbell is a family man. A loving father of two children with an admirable lust for life, and a passion for acting, writing, & sports,” the GoFundMe post said. “It is possible that this procedure will affect his ability to work as an actor in the future. We are asking for your help so that Kenny can use the time ahead to return to health, and spend more time with family & friends. Every prayer, positive thought, dollar, or gesture of support means the world to our family.”
