Updated as of June 25, 2024 at 10a.m. PT: It seems like the messy divorce between Teyana Taylor and NBA star Iman Shumpert may finally be over.

According to The Jasmine Brand, a Fulton County judge in Georgia officially ordered for Iman to pay the A Thousand and One star a one-time payment within the seven figures range. He’s also ordered to continue paying $8,000 a month in child support and pay “100% private school fees” for both his daughters Junie and Rue. Additionally, he’ll get to keep all his Shumpert Shump investments (though no exact monetary amount was disclosed), his condo in Miami and two homes in South Georgia and Decatur, respectively.

As for Teyana, she’ll get to keep 100% ownership of her companies Taylormade and Aunties as well as all her jewelry, Maybach, Mercedes Sprinter, a tour bus, and her Bronco truck. The Book of Clarence star will also retain ownership of four of their marital properties thought exact details weren’t disclosed.

In case you’ve been living under a rock (read: off social media pages about celeb divorces), then you might’ve missed the news that Teyana Taylor and soon-to-be ex-hubby and NBA star Iman Shumpert have been drilling out the details of their divorce in court the last week.

And according to multiple reports, those aforementioned details are unfortunately shaping up to be messier than we might’ve suspected (though early insights into their divorce definitely showed a high probability of some unfortunate stuff going down.) So because there’s a lot of ground to cover, we’ll try to hit the highlights:

Iman Wants Items He Gifted Teyana Back and A Different Custody Agreement and Royalties

According to The Jasmine Brand, Iman reportedly told an Atlanta judge that he wants some of the items he gifted Teyana back since they’re no longer married. He specifically referenced jewelry and a condo. He also allegedly asked for a half of royalties from various projects she did prior to them being romantically involved.

Iman Only Wants to Pay So Much in Child Support—But His Monthly Spend May Not Let That Happen

As it stands, Iman allegedly only pays $8,000 in child support but is potentially seeking lower payments according to TMZ, as he alleged that there’s a pay gap between him and soon-to-be ex-wife. However, when looking at the NBA star’s monthly spend, it calls into question whether or not that request for lower child support will be granted. According to court documents, Iman spends $112,500 total per month. This includes: over $14,000 per month on eating out; over $14,000 per month on his podcast; and over $6,000 per month on his video music production.

According to reporter Dennis Bryon, Teyana’s CPA alleged that Iman also spends $10,500 for lunch per month and $19,000 a month in travel going from South Atlanta to Alpharetta for work.

Teyana and Iman Allege Unsavory Things About Each Other

In court proceedings on Thursday, Teyana alleged that she was initially planning on divorcing Iman on two occasions before she finally pulled the plug citing him allegedly having cheated before the marriage, during her pregancy (though she didn’t specify which pregnancy) and after. She also alleged that Iman was “sending pictures of himself and his 2 month old child to chicks she believed he was dealing with,” prompting her desire to part ways in 2018. That’s when she began dating during their separation but she maintains that they never had an open relationship, unlike what some prior media speculations had reported over the years.

“Teyana Taylor was legally separated when she dated and NOT while she was still with him. She never CHEATED on him while they were together,” Bryon said from the courtroom.

Meanwhile, when it comes to Iman, he alleged one incident where Teyana allegedly physically assaulted him and he defended himself. Iman on the stand, per Byron:

“I was downstairs with my headphones on playing on my PlayStation and she started hitting me. I use to work with special ed kids and was taught to hold them from behind with a bear hug to calm them down. I yelled for my siblings (names redacted) and went upstairs where my mother was at.”

Iman Wants A New Custody Agreement

As previously reported by The Root, back in Dec. 2023, Iman was granted temporary set custody time with the girls. Per the agreement, the court decided that he woul have their children Junie and Rue four to six days out of the month and would be required to pick them up and drop them back off at Taylor’s residence. The A Thousand and One actress currently has primary custody and will keep it until a new agreement has been decided.

However, now Iman is seeking a week on, week off arrangement though that presents a challenge as his work often has him traveling out of Georgia where the children live primarily, according to The Jasmine Brand.

“Several witnesses testified that Teyana Taylor has constantly offered her ex additional time with their daughters, but he’s refused due to his work schedule. He allegedly said a three-day heads-up is not enough notice to offer him extra parenting time,” the outlet reports.

Where Do They Stand Now?
