Intrigue, security grow as CLE becomes Superman set
CLEVELAND (WJW) — The interest surrounding the growing movie set for an upcoming Superman film continues to soar.

Dozens upon dozens of people are flying downtown to catch a glimpse of the set as it continues to transform into Metropolis.
“You see the Daily Planet sign, you see Metropolis, it’s like a dream come true,” 17-year-old Olmsted Township resident Gabriel Ross said.
As new props emerge, like boulders or rubble for perhaps a fight scene, the intrigue grows.
“Maybe try to sneak through the lines and get a little closer, but what we’ve seen so far just looks great,” Geoff Himes said. “A little action sequence is going to be a plus too.”
With a lot of people interested about what’s going on, it has become a bit of a challenge for security to protect the perimeter of this production. They’re asking people to be kind and be respectful because they’re keeping people out in the interest of safety.
“The cones are set in different places to separate the general public from the set and the crew because of the equipment,” R-Cap Security’s Myron Dixon said.
Many people are going beyond the perimeter, which is advised against because it’s unsafe due to heavy equipment being used, and because the crew is actively building the set.
“It’s very understandable being a fan, yeah, but you definitely cannot,” Dixon said. “The budgeting, the timing for this to be productive, you definitely cannot.”
Security will however escort you to local businesses open along Superior Avenue to ensure you’re safe.
Even more easter eggs have potentially been revealed as one of the bars, named the Wounded Duck, could be a reference to Robin, a character from Batman that has yet to be introduced in DC’s recent films. But there’s no confirmation of that more than fan speculation.

“That’s where Batman and Superman would meet in the comics,” one fan shouted in excitement.
Security around the set could become increased over the coming days as production is expected to start.
