Jeremy Strong is the proud father of three daughters.

After the Emmy winner and his wife, Emma Wall, met in 2012 and married in 2016, they started a family with the birth of their first child, Ingrid, in 2018. The next year, Clara followed, and the couple's youngest daughter arrived in 2021, but they haven't officially announced her name.

The Succession star is known for his intense method acting, but Strong seems to have struck the balance between his career and being a dad.

“He does a really good job of maintaining what he’s doing but also creating a space for the family and a normal life,” Wall told The New Yorker in 2021.

Strong has also spoken about his devotion to his kids and fostering a healthy home life. The family lives in New York, but they also have homes in Denmark, where Wall grew up.

The Selma actor opened up to GQ in 2023, saying that he “would do anything” for his loved ones. “It’s the one thing I feel like I’ve done right in my life is have these beautiful children, these three girls that I have," he said.

Here's everything to know about Jeremy Strong's kids and what the actor has said about fatherhood.

Strong’s oldest daughter, Ingrid, was born in Denmark after filming for season 1 of Succession wrapped.

The country has a special place in his heart: Wall was born and raised in Denmark, and the pair wed at a castle in the country. The family splits their time between homes in New York and Copenhagen.

In a 2021 interview with The Guardian, Strong said, “I love Denmark. I find it a very sane and gentle place. It feels like a refuge for me, and it’s great to have somewhere that’s a docking station after all this work, which I find very enervating and scary and stressful.”

Strong's kids changed his life for the better

Strong has said that having children improved his life and perspective.

In a 2019 GQ interview, the actor said that his life changed “a lot in the sense that there’s some sort of stable center” after he became a father.

“I never had that before – I was always just a kind of transient and work was the only thing. And that feels different now, in a very good way. There’s something to come home to," he explained.

Strong has mentioned on multiple occasions that he wears a necklace as an ode to his girls. He showed off the piece of jewelry during a 2020 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

“On the back is my daughter [Ingrid]’s footprint. And then [for] my other daughter, I’ve got a bell," he said.

The Big Short star explained the meaning behind the bell, saying, “Her name is Clara, and the bell felt sort of clear and shining and bright, which is what her name means.”

In a 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Strong said his “most treasured possession" was "a cuff” with his daughters' names on it.

In March 2024, Strong took on the role of Dr. Thomas Stockmann in a Broadway adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's play An Enemy of the People. The theatrical work addresses climate change and in a February 2024 interview with Vogue, Strong shared that he took the role for his children.

“I’ve got three kids, five and under, so I think about the climate issue a lot,” he said.

Strong has discussed the relationship between climate change and his daughters before. In 2023, he spoke to Climate Emergency Fund donors on a Zoom call about the connection.

He brought up his girls, saying, “I look at them and I imagine the future that they’re going to inherit as a result of our inaction and complacency, and I feel a sort of sickening feeling and a sense of moral imperative to do anything I possibly can.”

He loves spending time with his kids

While Strong gets heavily invested in his work, he’s also a family man who loves being with his kids. During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2020, he said the best thing about the COVID-19 pandemic was spending time with his daughters.

A few years later, during a 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Strong shared that his idea of a perfect morning was sleeping in and having his children wake him up and bring him coffee.

Strong is a different dad than his Succession character, Kendall Roy

Strong is most well known for his role as Kendall Roy on Succession, a character who has a tough relationship with his family, especially his dad. Kendall also struggles with being a present father to his own children, whom he rarely sees due to his strained relationship with his ex-wife.

Although Strong has talked about his intense connection with the character, he knows he’s a different father than Kendall.

“I’ve got three little kids and most of my life is just reading ‘Room on the Broom’ and being a dad and a husband and a friend, just an entirely non-Kendall existence,” he said in a 2023 interview with The New York Times.

Strong shared a similar sentiment in a 2019 interview with GQ when asked what separates him from Kendall. “I have a lot more love in my life than he does,” he said. “I feel very supported in my life – he doesn’t have any of that.”

Strong has the support of his family, especially when he is consumed in an acting role. In a 2020 portfolio for W magazine, Strong called his wife and daughters “wonderfully distracting” during quarantine.

The Golden Globe winner explained that during the COVID-19 pandemic, he stayed in Denmark with his family, an experience he called “very calm, very sane,” and “a blessing.”

“For me, doing a TV show is completely immersive, and I welcomed the break,” he said. “I can get very used to being this other person. But the children demand my attention and love. If I didn’t have that anchor, it would be difficult to shake off Kendall.”
