Jesse Plemons revealed the exact amount of weight he lost through intermittent fasting, after he laughed off rumors of using Ozempic to shed pounds.

The actor spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday at the premiere of his new movie, Kinds of Kindness. "Well, I'm not lugging 50 more pounds around," Plemons joked of his drastically different frame. He told the outlet he shed the weight "over the course of a year and a half or so."

Plemons explained that he was motivated to lose the weight so he could be a more active father to his two children, six-year-old Ennis and three-year-old James, whom he shares with wife Kirsten Dunst. “I've got young kids,” he explained, “so I got to keep up with them."

Plemons is reaping his hard-won reward, explaining that he has "much more energy” after his 50 pound weight loss.

The actor revealed to the Los Angeles Times earlier this month that he initially decided to lose weight for his supporting turn in Civil War, in which he appeared opposite Dunst.

"It’s really unfortunate that I decided to get healthy when everyone decided to take Ozempic," Plemons joked. "It doesn’t matter, everyone’s going to think I took Ozempic anyways. But what it was was getting older and—I hate even getting specific because then it turns into a whole thing, but there was a part that I did that in my mind I could not imagine him as the size that I was."

As opposed to weight-loss drugs, Plemons credited his weight loss to intermitten fasting. "Several people talked to me about intermittent fasting and I just gave it a shot and [was] surprised at how quickly it was effective," he continued. "So I lost a little bit before I did that part and then felt like I was in the rhythm, I was feeling better, and something shifted in my head. I just sort of got a handle on it."

Plemons can currently be seen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ surreal comedy Kinds of Kindness, the director’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning Poor Things. Plemons plays multiple roles in the anthology picture, as do Poor Things co-stars Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, and Willem Dafoe.
