Joe Alwyn is sharing his gratitude for his costar and offscreen friend Emma Stone.

Alwyn, 33, spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new movie with Stone, Kinds of Kindness on Thursday, June 20, where he responded to comments the Academy Award winner, 35, made about him in a press release related to the movie in May.

"Well, I would say [that] back, yeah," Alwyn said after hearing that Stone called him "one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”

"I'm so lucky to be close to her, she's just the best. She's obviously wildly talented and she's just the best," he added.

Alwyn and Stone previously worked together in 2018's The Favourite, which they also made with Kinds of Kindness filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos. Beyond his acting career, Alwyn is well-known for his six-years long relationship with Taylor Swift, who has been friends with Stone since they were teenagers.

Kinds of Kindness utilizes its cast, which also includes Willem DafoeJesse PlemonsMargaret Qualley, Mamoudou Athie and Hong Chau, to tell three individual stories set in New Orleans over the movie's two-hour, 45 minute runtime. In the film's final act, Stone and Alwyn play a separated couple who share a daughter, portrayed by actress Merah Benoit. Alwyn appears elsewhere in the movie's anthologies as a collectibles appraiser and a passenger in a car during a traffic stop.

"It's like a little theater troop. Everybody changes part in each story, and when you're with people you trust and you respect and you love, it makes it a whole lot easier," Alwyn told ET of making the movie. "It's a lot of fun."

Alwyn's appearance at the movie's red carpet premiere on June 20 came after he recently discussed his 2023 breakup with Swift, 34, in an interview with The Sunday Times Style. “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years," he said in that interview, after he was asked if he has listened to the pop star's album The Tortured Poet's Department.

Kinds of Kindness is in theaters now.
