Jonathan Majors has been fired from NBA legend Dennis Rodman’s biopic.

According to CNN, the disgraced actor was dropped from the project’s leading role after he was found guilty of assault and harassment. “I cannot imagine a world where this moves forward with Jonathan,” an unnamed source told CNN.

The film had been using the working title 48 Hours in Vegas and was acquired by Lionsgate in 2021. The company secured rights to the film in an auction with Majors attached to the lead role, Deadline reports. However, after Majors’ termination, Lionsgate has since distanced itself from the film. The company has released the film back to its producers, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood, so they could find a new partner.

48 Hours in Vegas was set to chronicle the abnormal story of how the former NBA star went on a two-day Hangover-esque adventure with his assistant GM during the 1998 NBA Finals. Around this time, Rodman was a part of the dynastic Chicago Bulls en route to their third NBA Championship.

As for Majors, a jury found the actor guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment for attacking his ex-girlfriend. In the aftermath, Marvel swiftly dropped the actor from their upcoming slate of films.

Majors’ depiction of Kang was set to be the focal point of the MCU’s next phase. The California native was scheduled to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, the film studio has since wiped Avengers: Kang Dynasty and replaced it with Avengers 5.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Marvel “intends to move forward with the film” but with a different direction. Loki’s Michael Waldron is now attached to the anticipated Avengers movie.

Majors previously gave his first interview since being found guilty. In an interview with Good Morning America, he opened up about losing his Marvel role. The embattled star expressed that it felt “like the world stopped. It’s like you work so hard for things. And then, you know, it’s done.” Still, the entertainer hopes that he can return to Hollywood once he “clears his name.”

“Heck yeah, I do. I pray I do. But it’s God’s plan and God’s timing.”
