Jonathan Majors plans to clear his name after he was found guiltyPeople reported that the actor’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, released a statement following the verdict. Chaudhry spoke to Monday’s (Dec. 18) split decision and maintained that Major’s ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, was the aggressor. She also asserted that Majors has “faith” in the process and is anticipating “clearing his name.”

“It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her. We are grateful for that,” the statement read.

“We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him. Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months. Mr. Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.”

On Monday, the entertainer was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment for attacking his ex-girlfriend, The New York Times reports. However, Majors, 34, was acquitted of two other separate counts of intentional assault and aggravated harassment.

On Thursday (Dec. 14), TMZ released footage showing Majors being chased by the woman. The video was displayed in court and exhibited the fight between the couple as it transpired in the back of a vehicle. Jonathan could be seen lifting and placing Jabbari back in the car.

Prosecutors claim the interaction near the vehicle turned violent. Major’s attack allegedly left Jabbari with a bloody gash behind her ear, a bruised finger, and an injured arm.

On the heels of the decision, Marvel Studios announced they were cutting ties with the entertainer. Majors was at the center of the MCU, playing the next big threat in Kang the Conqueror. As the villain, the California native appeared in Ant-Man: Quantuamania and Loki. He was set to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but the verdict has soured Marvel’s plans.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Marvel “intends to move forward with the film” but in a different direction. Loki’s Michael Waldron is now attached to the anticipated Avengers movie. The film has since been renamed Avengers 5—a title it carried before Majors entered the MCU.
