"He takes wonderful care of himself, and I sort of like it," she said of her husband, former Judge Jerry Sheindlin

For Judge Judy, falling in love — and staying that way — isn't all that hard of a task.

The famous TV personality broke down the secret to her 48-year marriage to former judge Jerry Sheindlin, as she joked that they are both getting "a little hard of hearing."

"We're together a lot. Jerry retired about 20 years ago, but he has his own thing," she said on the June 21 episode of Who's Talking to Chris Wallace? "He takes wonderful care of himself. And I sort of like it, because he maintains that physique that I fell in love with 48 years ago."

Other than his looks, which Judy, 81, has a soft spot for, she said that her husband "still has a sense of humor [and is] still really smart and sharp," which helps, too.

The pair famously split up in 1990 and divorced, before remarrying a year later. The reasons behind the unusual trajectory is "a long story," she told the CNN anchor, before sharing some other pieces of wisdom she's accumulated about relationships. "

"I found, Chris, that most men were alike. I'm saying that they have basic needs that are different from women's. They like to be fed. They like to be cuddled. They like to have their alone time, that you take out the alone box and leave me alone," she said. "And if you feed them and love them up a little bit, and don't get in their way too much — they're happy."

Judy has previously told PEOPLE that physique is an important part of her marriage — both in the eyes of herself and her 90-year-old husband.

"We're both very surface people when it comes to that," she said in 2021. "You know, if you fall instantaneously for somebody, that means there's a physical attraction. And people age, people — they change. You can either do it gracefully or you can say, 'I give up.' And I, for myself, I'd say, I choose to not give up, I choose to stay fit, so don't even think about anything but staying as – looking as good as you can possibly look at this stage of your life."

"I don't have to tell him that more than once, he loves himself desperately," she continued, before joking, "And I actually think – and he's, Jerry is almost 10 years older than I am – but I think his goal is to outlive me."

"He takes very good care of himself, and good for him."
