Justin Timberlake’s arrest on Tuesday, June 18 for a DWI might be a sign that other things are going on in his life. He seems to be solid in his marriage to Jessica Biel, despite her reported disappointment, but the state of his career might be a problem. Hollywood is a tough journey to navigate, and the 43-year-old musician may be realizing that his fanbase has changed over the years.

Page Sixs source revealed the ego-crushing conversation that reportedly occurred between Timberlake and the young, arresting officer. “Justin said under his breath, ‘This is going to ruin the tour,’” according to the insider. “The cop replied, ‘What tour?’ Justin said, ‘The world tour.’” He might be in a similar position to Jennifer Lopez where the audience’s musical tastes have changed. Her This Is Me… Now album and canceled tour weren’t the juggernauts she was hoping for. Timberlake’s’ recent album, Everything I Thought It Was, also suffered a similar fate, but ticket sales have been decent, but not spectacular, for his The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

From an entertainment industry perspective, his attitude might be the problem. “The album didn’t do too well, and I don’t see Justin getting big acting roles right now,” a Hollywood source shared. “I just think Justin has a bad reputation in Hollywood as a bit of a jerk and a pain in the ass. He’s got a bit of an ego.” Timberlake has seen success with the Trolls franchise, but overall, “his golden boy image is definitely depleted.” It’s a big difference from the big splash he made in the movie industry with 2010’s The Social Network. He was hoping to up his Oscars’ game following his critical success, but the 2023 Netflix movie, Reptile, wasn’t a hit amongst viewers.

Timberlake isn’t slowing down despite his latest misses. A People source shared, “It’s business as usual for him. The tour is continuing as planned.” His attorney Edward Burke Jr. also issued a strong statement about fighting the charges. “Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office,” the statement read. According to TMZ, Burke and Timberlake are not relying upon the “typical celeb playbook” of going to rehab, especially with “no prior arrest record.”

His next court date is July 26, so the tour will go on as planned, but Hollywood isn’t cutting him any slack. “In today’s world, you have to be really dumb to drink and drive,” the Hollywood source told Page Six. “Justin is showing off a side that I don’t think a lot of people knew about.” It might be time for some self-reflection because his DWI incident could have been deadly.
