This just in: Justin Timberlake has officially been charged and released after being arrested for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York. And his lawyer clarified exactly what he’s being charged with.

“The charge was a single count [of driving while intoxicated] because he refused the breath test,” Timberlake’s lawyer, Ed Burke, told Us Weekly. “Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.” He has already been arraigned and released without bail.

The outlet reports that his next court date will be on July 26, and that the Sag Harbor Police Department released a statement confirming the incident that read in part, “On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed…failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.”

Meanwhile, Page Six is reporting about the case in more detail, though only with anonymous sources, so, grain of salt. Per their insiders, Timberlake was driving with friends in the car at the time of his arrest, and the officer who arrested him was too young to recognize the singer. The outlet also reports that the July 26 appointment is just “procedural,” and Justin Timberlake won’t have to attend in person. They published pictures of the star “looking somber” while exiting the courthouse with his lawyer after his arraignment, though to be honest, he looks totally normal. The Post additionally reports that Timberlake refused the breath test “three times” and claimed to have consumed “one martini” despite his “glassy and bloodshot eyes.” A complaint obtained by the Post notes, “He was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
