Kate Middleton's Recovery Timeline Seems To Be in Dispute as Press Shares Vastly Different Stories

Kate Middleton deserves the space and the peace to recover from her cancer battle, but social media interest has started a second round of demanding an update from the royal family. Now, palace sources are sharing positive news, but it has other royal insiders confused because they are hearing a much different story about the current state of her health.

Let’s start with the good news that is being reported by Vanity Fair which has the Princess of Wales on the upswing. She’s “turned a corner,” according to a family friend, because she’s finally “tolerating the medication.” They added, “It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time. Everyone has rallied around her—William, her parents, and her sister and brother.” Kate will return to her royal engagements when she’s feeling stronger, and as the Daily Mail confirmed, it’s not expected to be anytime soon.

Some cynical royal watchers seem to think the suddenly positive reports, also shared by People, are a reaction to Spanish News reporter Concha Calleja’s update in Fiesta, via Diez Minutos. “About Kate Middleton specifically they have told me ‘I would like to tell you that the worst has happened but it’s not true’. The worst has not happened,” she claimed. “The treatment does not end until the month of August and will have to go, before the end of the year, for another surgical intervention.” Calleja’s reports have always been controversial because her royal source always seems to be sharing more dire news — which only sparks the conspiracy theories even further.

The one thing the Spanish journalist is aligning with is the timeline of Kate’s return — it’s a long way away. “Let’s hope that with the end of the treatment and another surgical intervention something more is already known,” she added. “I hope they say something before that. I think that, for the moment, we are not going to see her, at least not until she is much more recovered.” The bottom line is that the Princess of Wales is not going to rush back to work, and she shouldn’t, her health is her most important job at the moment.

However, palace insiders are looking forward to the day when Kate is back and better than ever because her presence is missed at royal appearances. “[The royal family] is vulnerable at the moment, and there will be an even greater appreciation that they are human beings with frailties like the rest of us,” a former royal staffer told People. “They are so dedicated to their roles. I think you will find when Kate makes a full recovery, she will come back even more passionate.” Royal watchers just have to be patient about Kate’s return.
