Katie Maloney Shares How Far She and Ariana Madix Have Come in Their Friendship

Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney haven’t always been the best of friends, but after going into business together and, more recently, coming together following their respective breakups, the pair’s bond is currently stronger than ever.

Katie shared just how far they’ve come in their friendship during a recent Q&A session on her Instagram Stories. Asked, “Favorite thing about you and Ariana’s bond/friendship?” on Thursday, April 6, Katie began by noting that she was “gonna try to explain this the best” she could.

“One thing I like about my friendship with Ariana — and even specifically Ariana, because she was more like this and I’ve tried to be more like this myself in our friendship — is the ability to be objective when it comes to our friends or [if] we don’t always get along with each other’s friends.”

Take Tom Sandoval, for example. When he was still with Ariana, he and Katie were, for the most part, “not getting along.” However, Ariana didn’t let that interfere with their friendship. “She’s done a really, really wonderful job with that,” Katie said. “And I know that wasn’t always the case, but I really feel that in the most recent years, we’ve been able to maintain and have our friendship grow despite all that, and I really like that.”

Katie is certainly following suit at the moment, specifically when it comes to Scheana Shay. The two hadn’t been getting along on Vanderpump Rules Season 10 and in the months leading up to Tom and Ariana’s split, but once the breakup occurred, they came together to support their mutual friend. As Lala Kent put it, “I think everyone is just putting things aside, anybody who had differences. Everything is put into the background for the moment while we just rally around our friend.”

Katie and Ariana are spending lots of time together for another reason too — the highly anticipated opening of their sandwich shop, Something About Her. Giving an update on their progress during the Q&A, Katie said, “It’s going to be, like, this summer.”

“It’s just a matter of if everything goes according to plan,” she added, noting that there might be a few “hiccups along the way,” but, of course, “you can’t always plan” for those. “The last thing I want to do is say, ‘It’s going to be this date,’ and then it’s not, and everyone’s like, ‘What the hell happened?’”
