Since announcing her departure from American Idol in February, Katy Perry had fans at the edge of their seats waiting for her era. Luckily, Perry recently did just that as she announced her new album, Woman’s World.

Perry announced the news with what appears to be her single cover. In it, she’s showing off her toned physique in a white bikini with metallic bionic legs.

“SONG JULY 11 / VIDEO JULY 12 / PRE-SAVE + PRE-ORDER,” Perry wrote in the caption. “GET READY TO POP OFF.”

Unsurprisingly, many fans of the “Teenage Dream” singer were raving over the news. “We will be seated and we will be listening ✊,” wrote one commenter. “I’M IN TEARS,” wrote another follower. “OMG THE WORLD IS HEALING,” wrote another.

Shortly after, Perry debuted a snippet of her upcoming single. “Sexy, confident/ So intelligent/ She is heaven sent/So soft, so strong,” she sings over a pop beat.

In the comments on those videos, however, fans are more divided on their support for Perry. “I was excited, but now I’m not 😭,” wrote one user on X. “we need a smash hit, what is this? 😭” wrote another.

Other users have also claimed the single is produced by Dr. Luke, a music producer who was sued by fellow singer Ke$ha sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, emotional abuse, and violation of California business practices, per NPR.

“This song is produced by Dr. Luke, how could u?!” wrote an angry fan in the comments. “Its an irony that its called a woman’s world… DO BETTER.”

Looks like Perry’s new single will have to impress a lot of people to be as successful as her past hits. We’ll wait until July 11 to make our conclusions.
