Just when fans thought Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock had reached a simmer, the case might be racing toward a new boiling point associated with her move to New York City. The talk show host, who is busy promoting her new album, Chemistry, is trying to avoid another round in court with her ex, so she may have to cough up more money to him.

Since it is Clarkson’s decision to move her home base to the East Coast, she will likely have to foot the bill for Blackstock’s visits to New York to see their kids, River, 9, and Remington, 7, according to RadarOnline. She has primary custody of the children, and he has one weekend a month with them. “Brandon lives in Montana, which when Kelly lived in L.A., wasn’t too bad of a flight for the kids to visit with their dad,” noted an insider. “But New York City is a lot farther away.”

Clarkson wants to keep her visits to court at a minimum after a bitter divorce, so she will likely do what she can to keep Blackstock quiet. “Brandon can demand Kelly pay for his flights to New York to see River Rose and Remy and also pick up the tab for a posh hotel stay,” a second source noted. “It’s the kind of case that’s been argued successfully for divorced parents. Kelly doesn’t want to dole out another dime to Brandon, but she may have to in order to avoid another nasty court battle.”

She currently pays Blackstock $150,000 per month in spousal support and $45,601 in child support. His alimony wraps up on January 31, 2024, so he might use a first-class opportunity to squeeze a little more money out of Clarkson because that’s how bitter their battle has been. Let’s hope this cross-country move finally brings her the peace she deserves.
