'The Laramie Project' opens Friday in Yuba City

Oct. 5—In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's murder, Convergence Theatre Company (CTC) will be presenting "The Laramie Project," written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project.

CTC is a resident theater company of Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture, the designated local partner of the California Arts Council. Matthew DeMeritt, artistic director and co-founder of CTC, has been serving as director for this production, which will tie up the group's inaugural season.

The Laramie Project" will open at 7 p.m. on Friday with just six other chances to catch this local performance. Shows will be held on weekends through Oct. 15 with an additional Thursday night performance on Oct. 12. This date will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Shepard's death with a special audience vigil followed by an enlightening talkback session with members of the cast and crew.
